How many potato chips can you safely eat?
If I eat nothing but potato chips will I be OK?
My Doctor said I had to eat other things as well (even though I was run through every blood test imaginable, and was A-OK) and sent me to a nutritionist, but the nutritionist and I didn't exactly see eye to eye.

Potato chips are high in fibre, iron, Vitamins c& b , and have no cholesterol. The ones I buy are marker "heart smart" because they use the right cooking oil.

Admitedly I am about 20 pounds overweight, but that's not that bad, and I exercsise quite a a bit.

i have a minor hietal hernia, which I was told could be treated by diet, but when my Doctor told me that meant eating less vegetables I think she almost choked herself.

When i was in university some nutrition students did a project on me and insisted I should not be alive and was missing several essential nutrients. But i still am. So how can they be right?

Why is it so bad to eat just chips?

Are you serious? You are creating a perfect haven for disease in your body. There is no way you can be serious;)

Still, I will remind you of a few things that are obvious - you are likely taking in a hell of a lot more salt than you should, so you can get ready to say hello to high blood pressure in a few years if you don't already have it!

Than there is the major lack of protein, which is absolutely essential for your muscles. There is no way you can be eating just potato chips...your hair would have started to think out and actually fall out by now, unless you aren't making the connection that this is the reason.

What about all the other vitamins and nutrients you don't get in your diet...and you need both soluble and insoluble fibre for your diet. Fruits and vegetables have lots of nutrients, fibre, essentially no fat and high water content.

Anyway, you know as well as I do that it is a matter of time before you end up dead and you know your quality of life will improve from limiting the 'chip intake'. Twenty pounds is still weight you could stand to lose.

Your brain requires sugar...and you are not getting any from chips! Every organ in your body, including your skin would be dying for real nutrition. Potatoes have:
Sodium
Potassium
Dietary Fiber
Protein
Vitamin C
Riboflavin
Iron
Vitamin B6
Thiamin
Niacin
Folic Acid

Some types don't even have all of these or only have trace amounts. Sure they have loads of potassium, but what about all the other nutrients and vitamins? Protein is limited, and what about B12? And you need those cancer fighting leafy greens!

So, lay off the chips, eh?

Cheers

It's bad to eat only one thing no matter what it is. The reason for that is that there is no single nutritionally complete food (well, maybe if you ate other people it would be OK nutritionally, but there are some other problems with that plan, and in the US it would probably be WAY more fat than is healthy ^_^). Even if your blood tests are OK now (and they don't measure every nutrient, even in the most complete panels) I can guarantee you that you will develop deficiencies if you keep that up. Plus being 20 pounds overweight isn't a good thing, and is probably due to your diet, especially if you're getting some exercise.
So you can eat potato chips, but I would make them an occasional dessert or snack rather than the bulk of your caloric intake.

I hope you're kidding. Potato chips are NOT high in fiber. That's a fact. Read the label. No fiber to speak of. Your doctor did NOT tell you to eat less vegetables, I'm sure she told you to eat LESS potato chips. They are high in fat and salt. You say you're fine. Obviously, you aren't. You are 20 lbs. overweight (that's obese) and you have a hernia. Where do you think that came from?

So the effects of eating nothing but potato chips is beginning to rot your insides. Keep it up. Soon you'll need heart bypass, you'll have a fatty liver and may need dialysis from the high salt content.

POTATO CHIPS.

Hey eat what you want. It's your body. I know a girl who drinks bleach in order to pass her drug tests for her job, and she's still alive, after existing on little more than meth, alcohol, Cheetohs, and bleach. If you want to trash your system, why should you let common sense stop you?
