What do you think needs to be done to better educate the youth of today about the consequences and responsibilities of having sex. I think that if more parents educated their children better on sex then there would be less teen pregnancies. Also I think that some of these parents need to spend time with their kids and be there for them. I really wish there was a way that we all could help protect again the ignorance today that our children have towards sex and how to better educate them and let them know what can come of it. I think if more parents kept a closer eye on their kids then this also wouldn't be happening.

I MEAN HOW DOES A 14 YEAR OLD GET PREGNANT SERIOUSLY WHERE ARE THE PARENTS AT???

Before adults can better educate their children on this they should first educate themselves. Now a days so many parents just try to avoid this and thus making them grandparents before they want. I think if parents taught about sex when the child is able to understand and make it to where the child is aware that a girl could get pregnant at any time of the month with even the most minuscule amount of sperm and what not instead of rushing out and just putting their kids on birth control this would help out a lot. So many parents should just step up and take the responsibility that if they don't do it this is going to create a vicious pattern down the road that may never end

I don't believe that this is a problem that you can blame on the parents. It doesn't matter how much time parents spend with there kids if a kid wants to have sex they are going to find a way no matter what. I believe that if people really want to lower the risk of teen pregnancy they need to help kids learn about safe sex. For instance most kids do not want to go to a store and buy condoms in fear that someone they know might see them and tell there parents let alone go to a doctor to talk about birth control. Instead having condom dispensers in school bathrooms and things like that will really help lower teen pregnancy. Also classes that help teens learn about the responsibility's of being parents. For instance they have classes where teens with kids come in and talk to a group of kids about there struggles. It's a great way for the kids to learn because it's not like they are being told by an adult, they are just talking with a peer. Hope this helps!!

I am with you (parents' responsibility). I know several teenagers who abstain from sex because of the values they have learned from their parents. Also, if kids are involved in a group that supports them and encourages them - like church youth group, or community youth group - they can be accountable to one another, and be engaged in other nonsexual activities. Our world is polluted with sexual merchandise, but if the youth have values they can filter through those junks. Having a human sexuality class can also help. Or, having a close friend that can be your accountable-person can also help. Teenagers like to explore and at the same time want to be accepted. I think they do know the consequences, but they lack the values.

Look where their learning it from though...it's every where. Movies, music videos, clothes that scream SEX, the Internet! What do you expect. How can we teach our children any better if we can't even teach our self's? Children aren't making these movies, making itty bitty clothing or designing sex videos. "Adults" are. I think if we all would change to make this world more suitable than it would be.
