This has been brought up many times and I'm wondering what you guys think of this:

Creationists believe that a higher being created land, air, water, people etc... But since everything has to be created by something, how did the higher being form? Because if he was made out of "Dust and thin air" or was always "There" then that's sorta contradicting the whole theory of creationism.

I'm not athiest, but just curious as to what you guys think about this. I'm Agnostic...

Bible, Quran, The Vedas etc... quotes are all welcome, as long as they actually fit this topic. IF you choose to give an example in the bible and/or the Qur'an, please state where in the scipture and what kind of bible/Qur'an (yes, there are different versions of the Qur'an too) you're using.

My finite mind can grasp the ideal that he was always there... It still doesn't make sense, even if i understand what you're saying. You guys are mostly saying that time here is linear and god's realm is circular, right? He was always there because there is no such thing as time in god's realm. That still makes no sense.

Of course if you want to go even deeper, we can talk about evolution. I believe in evolution 100%, but it still doesn't explain how the very tiny stardust formed? well, don't quote me on that, but if you know then tell me please.

You raise the fundamental flaw in idea of Creation. The existence of a Creator shows that not all things need a creator or designer (even really complex ones) and that it is even impossible to attribute some things to a designer. If this incredibly complex Creator didn't need a creator, why would anything else?

You simply can't get around this. The idea that God has always been does not alleviate the fact that he didn't need a creator.

Yes I do believe that God created everything. But God was not created. He is eternal, therefore he was never created and he will never have an end.

Creationists don't believe in evolution. There is no answer to what started the first life, except for God.

1. Everything WHICH HAS A BEGINNING has a cause.
2. The universe has a beginning.
3. Therefore the universe has a cause.

Premise one is the law of causality, which is the fundamental principle of science. Its important to stress the words in caps. The universe requires a cause because it had a beginning, as will be shown below. God, unlike the universe, had no beginning, so doesn't need a cause.

Since God, by definition, is the creator of the whole universe, he is the creator of time. Therefore He is not limited by the time dimension He created, so has no beginning in time. God is the high and lofty One that inhabits eternity (Isaiah 57:15). Therefore He doesnt have a cause.

The key portion of your question, "But since everything has to be created by something, how did the higher being form?" Has been addressed by a few.

Everything that has been created was created by Christ.

But we know that there is only one God, the Father, who created everything, and we exist for him. And there is only one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom God made everything and through whom we have been given life.
1st Corinthians 8:6

I am the First and the Last. I am the living one who died. Look, I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and the grave.
Revelations 1:17,18

Do not forget the things I have done throughout history. For I am God-I alone! I am God, and there is no one else like me. Only I can tell you what is going to happen even before it happens. Everything I plan will come to pass, for I do whatever I wish.
Isaiah 46:9,10

Well... we could go back a very long time.
Perhaps the greater deity which created everything was also created by something greater than itself. Perhaps that greater being which created our deity(ies) was also created by something else.
I suppose we'll never know. I don't think there is anything in the bible which says much about the creation of God, since it's more based on the creation of the Earth (and all that jazz). Though, I don't study the bible or anything.

Hope this helps! Good luck with your study.

That's a very good question and one that if you sit and think will drive you nuts. I am an absolute believer in our Creator. Where HE came from we'll never understand. The question is, what does it matter if we know he exists and have evidence of Him in our lives? Think about it. You have a person you met... full grown. He or she was just there. What you know is that that person is there for you when you need him; can be counted on to listen to your problems and help you through them; will tell you when you're doing something wrong, and supplies you with everything you need. Does it really matter that you didn't find out his or her mother was pregnant. Didn't watch his or her birth. Don't know what hospital he/she was born in?

About the issue of linear v circular time. Truthfully, I don't have but one explanation or question on that: Isn't it right that the creator be superior to the created?

God has always exsisted. Our finite minds just can't comprehend that.

"I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty."
Rev 1:8

He said to me: "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life. "
Rev 21:6

I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.
Rev 22:13

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:1

While I'm not a creationist, I had to put my 2 cents in.

You're making a very valid point with this question.......where, indeed, did the Higher Being come from if it is responsible for everything that exists? Did it make itself? If so, HOW?

I find this question to be the very heart of creationism VS evolutionism. You can't have it both ways.......one developed, and the other was made.

The Apostle Paul said the following about God:
"Now to the King of eternity, incorruptible, invisible, the only God"
1 Timothy 1:17
Eternity is not just forever forward, it is also forever back.
So, it would seem God is above ("king") over time and space.

Jude 25 refers to the same idea:
"to the only God be glory, majesty, might and authority for all past eternity and now and into all eternity. Amen.

I readily admit this may not be a fully satisfying answer, however you are asking a university question to mankind ...and mankind (for the moment) is in grade 1.

This is the one question I see a lot on here. I know it is hard for people to understand that God has always been, since the beginning of time- But that is how it is. God has always been, you could keep going in circles with this question, because if you had an answer to who made God then you would have to ask who made that being, and then who made that being that made that being...and so on....so you see its an endless circle. But just rest in knowing that God has always been!

John 1:1
[ The Word Became Flesh ] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

One main difference between theists, and atheists is that theists believe God has not beginning or end, and atheists believe that energy without any actual formation or knowledge has no beginning or end. The truth is, if you don't believe the energy came from an intelligent being, you believe the energy itself randomly created everything. I would like to have a conversation with you about this or any other qustion you may have. If you would like to talk, please e-mail me at cary_tony@yahoo.com
