if a true Christian only worships jesus christ , wouldnt it be a sin to worship some human being that lives in a fortress, someone who wears gold chains, fur coats and is being served on hand and foot?
Is that not against every thing Jesus has taught us? should a true Christian show his believes in daily actions of selfless acts and not give his/her hard earned money to a better cause , other then the vatican? why is it that there is so much love for the pope and not for jesus christ! because if I remeber correctly there is no human represetative for God and Jesus christ! how much more power and money does that outfit need to establish itself as a world ruler???????????

I cant imagine that this sexist , rich , self loving place is of christian values at all !!

I am a christian , and none what this place represents is christian in the least bit! where is the humanity , where is that humble behavior , jesus preached?

Jesus preached that humble behaviour because the people back then were like how people are now - it seems that human society has not changed. It is sad that someone as noble as Jesus tried to create a way of life for people to follow and we still get it wrong. I am not Christian or religious at all, but I truly respect Jesus the man. He looked around as you and I are now and saw the degradation of society - the fact that there is nothing sacred, no morals, wicked selfishness. And he tried, he tried to change it. It is really sad to see people go down this road over and over again.

Somewhere in the Bible Christ says something to the effect of "Don't actually DO what the prophets do. Just listen to them".

It's a big problem today, but it's been around for centuries. Anyone can wave the flag of religion. It doesn't mean they have the faintest clue what that religion means. But it does happen to be a great way to get free money, influence people or hey, even get elected and wage personal wars with assets and lives of a nation.

Your relationship to God and Christ is YOURS. That's first and foremost to remember. And it sounds like your getting it. That's where the whole thing begins really. Churches were only ever meant to assist. We come together in His name and are magnified. None of it is required.

The world is full of false prophets, many of whom don't even realize they are false. It doesn't matter.

Seek and you shall find. Knock and the door shall be opened unto you. Ask and you shall receive.

Look for divinity within and you will find it.

Let the posers pose, and the thiefs steal. Focus on your own search.

The Catholic Church was the only representative of the Christian faith for the first 1500 years of it's history. In that time concepts evolved such as papal infallibility, indulgences, purgatory, celibacy, church authority was elevated to the same level as Scripture, the common people were forbidden to read the Bible, and the Catholic church suffered through periods of unbridled corruption. By the time Wyclif translated the Bible and Martin Luther tacked his 95 theses on the door of the Wittenburg church, the Reformation was in full swing. It restored the Bible to the common man and returned many nations to a purer form of Christianity. In the interim there have been popes who were good men and accomplished many things for Christ. These days I don't think popes are actually worshipped, although the concept of papal infallibility has survived. The Catholic church continues to represent a form of historical Christianity that we can all appreciate for what it is, even if we don't agree with everything they do.

Much of what many Christian churches and religious people represent is not Christian. This is not limited to the Vatican. Why focus on the Pope when there are megachurches and cults and Jesus Camp right in your own backyard?

Jesus never taught organized religion but people like it. Jesus didn't want you to build a church or hire a preacher/pastor/priest. If you give your money to a church then you are contributing to the destruction of his beliefs.

It is not merely the catholics but the protestants as well. Pat Robertson does not wonder where his next meal is coming from.

This is one of many reasons that I reject all the churches and I would urge you to do so as well.

The Pope, as opposed to Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, ect. Figure out what true religion is and you will be at peace with all of the other garbage out there that calls itself religion.

If you're a Christian, then how come your screen name is "Slave of 12 Gods"?

Anyways... Yes I agree what you describe doesn't fit the teachings of Jesus at all.

It is my personal observation that most 'christians' don't follow the religion OF Jesus that he tried to teach, but rather a religion ABOUT Jesus. I think that pretty much explains a lot of the odd behavior you see from them.
