there are many who claim the name "christian" that are no more christian than a muslim is.
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Matthew 7: 21

It's "allowed" because we live in a nation of religious freedom for all, in which anyone is free to follow, reintepret, and/or reject any religion. Christianity has frequently been reshaped to appeal to various cultures. For example, the Eastern Orthodox Christianity of the Greeks and Russians, the Coptic Christianity in Egypt, and American Evangelicalism are all very different. Many holidays, like Christmas, were adapted from European Pagan holidays. So this is another adaptation. You may take it or leave it, because--and I know I'm repeating myself--you have that freedom.

they don't speak for all feminists. I'm a atheist, myself.
How does their having their own interpretation and ways differ from the countless other christian sects which do the same, or constitute "seeking to destroy Christianity"? have they done anything to try to shut down your church or any other?
and what's "the ELCA"?

Personally I wonder the same thing about Messianic Jews. How can you pervert our religion by recognizing some hippie carpenter bank robbing revolutionary as the savior and still call yourself a Jew. I also wonder how Christians can claim to be descended from Jews when they have so clearly perverted our values and traditions. The word Judeo-Christian is misleading....I want no association with book burning, fundamentalist, murdering Christianity.

There is no authority in the U.S. that can stop it. The laws allow freedom of religion, no matter how perverse it is.
I am a Christian myself, and I dislike seeing such a mockery of the Christian religion, but to each his own. That is one thing this country still has going for it...the freedom to believe and choose.

Rewriting, throwing away parts, making it say what they want.... sounds like they are following in the footsteps of a long proud line of christian leaders going back a couple of millennia.

It is San Fransisco. Its their right as Americans to worship as they believe. Many fems. feel justified in pushing a more female oriented worldview and in many cases they are right. This is just an example of trying to change the past to fit the present. A lot of that unfortunately is directed against God. They would better serve their purpose by focusing on the future but thats their prerogative. Wait do they have a prerogative? Thats for girls not feminists isn't it?

oh wow! if you're a TRUE Christian then you're following Hebrew law. right? i mean ... the first and original Christians were all Jewish or had converted to Judaism because you had to be a Jew to be a Christian. you must be one of those rare Christians who aren't really a Paulist following Paul's bastardized version of Christianity. right?
Mat 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.

Have you been to the church or spoken to any of it's parishioners, or are you going on just what you assume they are doing?
What is so bad about "God" having a female aspect anyway?

Christianity treats women like dirt. You actually have to ask that question?
