Yes, that little code is "msconfig" without the quotes. Go to the Start up tab and uncheck programs you don't want starting when you boot up. CAUTION! Becareful what you uncheck! If you're not sure what something is google it.

There are two little codes which you can use. The first is msconfig. But i sometimes find that it doesn't work. The next code is to go to the System Registry by typing regedit. Then find your way in to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
then keep the stuff you want to start and delete the stuff which you don't want. But make sure that that you select File>Export Registry File and Backup your registry in case you mess it up (Bad place to mess up). Or i will tell you the easiest way. Install iolo's System Mechanic or TuneUp Utilities which will do the job you want plus loads of more stuff. It can even block which you wont normally see in the regedit or msconfig (like services etc.)

Type in MSCONFIG It will open a window with tabs click on the startup tab, uncheck the ones you don't want to start. You will then have to reboot. After windows loads a window will pop up put a check mark in the box not to notify you again.

Better using special programs, like this: http://www.neosoft-tools.com/windows-startup-manager.htm
It disables any startup programs and fully controls startup by selecting the programs to be launched, while customizing the startup settings (ie how often and when programs should be launched, etc).
