It is usually on an LCD panel in between the rev counter and speedo...
If it is not showing the mileage, there is a button in the end of your windscreen wiper stalk... Start your engine, then press this button. It will flick through various displays, eventually showing the mileage... You can also re-set the trip mileage using this button... When the mileage is showing, press and hold this button.

Ok I have a Megane scenic. Turn the ignition lights on and watch your dashboard display.
you press the indicator arm into the steering wheel and it will give you a menu of mileage, trip, MPG and other usefull stuff. If not then it could be a missing fuse. The nice people in your renault garage will often give you 2 minute guide or otherwise give me a call.
