Supposedly its as secure as the Mac OS-X or so Microsoft says. I know Symantec and McAfee were working on anti virus software however I haven't heard of its compatability with Vista yet. I would speculate that if there is no anti virus software available yet for Vista there will be, but according to Microsoft its already built in.

Vosta or no Vista, Microsoft's antivirus software cries out for something else. Try a good and free edition such as Antivir, which I've been using for very long without any problems. When I had AVG, on the other hand, the viruses literally ate my PC and forced me to reinstall Windows.

Do you need anti-virus software? Consider this. As of 9PM 1/31/07 no less that four people have cracked VISTA AN put the details online. One young woman cracked it in two hours before a meeting room full of people. Any tweleve year old with minimal programming knowledge could crack it, hack it and flush it down the toilet

haha, i'd like to see the day where it was built in, and viruses could never harm a computer.
Unfortunately, i don't think so.
Use Norton Anti Virus Protection centre, i've been using it almost a year and it has NEVER ever allowed a virus to so much as leak onto my laptop.

It has mild protection but all system should have working anti-virus.
Just use a free service such as:

AVAST home edition or AVG

You should always have extra protection.
