Or is the opposite of Christianity our own comfortable, personal and cultural, idolatries? What does the Bible say?

The opposite of accepting Jesus is rejecting him.

The opposite of serving God is serving yourself.

The opposite of faith is foolishness, biblically speaking

I'd say.

To be honest, it's just Christianity... and everything else.

"No one comes to the Father except through me"

-Jesus

The human mind tends to divide perceived objects into opposites, as a survival tool. Is it a tiger or is it a harmless animal? This helps us to decide whether to run away or not.

This tendency seems to extend to such things as the "atheism vs Christianity" debate. Atheism is not opposed to Christianity. It is merely the absence of a belief in God. Frequently, overzealous members of Christianity perceive atheism as opposite, and since opposite, an opponent to be defeated. Atheists, particularly those in the United States, often take a similar position concerning Christianity, since Christianity tends to attempt to proselytize.

We end with two armed camps facing each other across an imaginary "line in the sand," waving their fists.

Since neither the theists nor the atheists can conclusively prove their claims, such fist-waving is an exercise in futility Some people seem to like those exercises, since there will be no outcome for which anyone will be responsible.

while you're xtian than it feels like a number of faith, perception or non perception is against you. So there are no longer possibly any opposites (if your perspective is from a xtian stance). Islam may be the comparable way. All religions are incorrect different than yours. Atheism's opposite is theism as an entire, whether you're xtian, islamic, wiccan, etc. (that's from an atheistic stand factor). that's all approximately perspective.

No, atheism is the knowledge that deities do not exist, not a disbelief in a deity. Disbelief assumes the existence of deities and that the atheist just doesn't believe, which is not accurate.

Also, Satanism is not the opposite of Christianity, either. Before ascribing attributes to groups of people you don't know, do some reading:

The most prominent and widely known Satanist in recent years is, and was Anton Szandor LaVey, who founded the Church of Satan in 1966. LaVey wrote The Satanic Bible (1969) and other works which remain highly influential (though controversial) among avowed Satanists. LaVey rejects the Black Mass, cruelty to animals, or a literal belief in (or worship of) Satan. Instead he supports a view of human beings as animals and rejects many social structures that inhibit our instincts.

Mmm, the opposite of Christianity is probably Satanism.

Atheism is not a structure, only the disbelief in God(s). The personal and cultural moral views of Atheists vary greatly.

No. Is zero the opposite of 100?

Opposite in terms of a Christian would be a non-Christian as close as the terms come. Anti-Christian might fit better, but the term doesn't fit things like religious beliefs.

atheist and theist are opposites.
religious and areligious are too.

I would say the Westborough Baptist church is the opposite of Christianity.

Basically, the hypocrites are the opposite of Christianity.

Most of the behaviors of atheists do not particularly appear to be the antithesis of Christianity, so I don't think you can say it is the opposite.

No more than Satan is the opposite of Christ.....
Faith is believing ....
Atheism is NOT believing or believing in NOTHING...
In other words a believer is an entity.....
Satan offers no alternative to the promises of God...rather he attacks and detracts ...he's just a angry hater...
Most atheists are young, proud, and intellect dependent.... the real telltale signs of their error is their regular visiting of this "religion and spirituality" section of YA......they come to something from nothing....they don't go to their own "atheism" section because they believe in nothing or only the "here and now"...run out of thing to discuss real quick....sad

Atheism is disbelief in God so it is the opposite of deism not any form of religion.
