I think you have to be at least 16. I'm not positive on that, it may be 18. I'm pretty sure it's 16, though.

A great way to get answers is to call your local public library. Most public libraries have a GED prep program. A representative from that program will answer all your questions and can also help you study. BTW, dont let ppl tell you that GEDs are for losers. I got my GED because kids in school wouldnt quit ragging on me and I was tired of eating my lunch in the bathroom stalls. (Even though I made MUCH better grades than them.) I am in college today and want to go into education! Best wishes!!

You may take the GED test if:

You are not currently in high school, and
You have not graduated from high school, and
You are at least age 16-years-old, and

You meet state's rules for age, where you live, and how long it's been since you left high school. Each state has different rules for whom can take the GED. Call (800) 626-9433 to find a testing center in your area. Your local testing center can tell you for sure if you are eligible to take the test.

Yes. Standard age is at least 18. In the US, you might be able to get special permission for 16 and 17.

For most states the age is 16, but double check even if someone tells you that you can't get it. I had to go all the way from Georgia to Oregon to get mine because I was told that I had to wait for my age group to gradute. Well it turns out that that was a lie! So make sure you ask different sources to get the correct info.

one of my girlfriends got her GED and i think it was such a shame, because she was really smart but sooo lazy that she didn't want to get her HS diploma. i wanted her to go to college but she didn't want to. it's one of the reasons we broke up. she wanted to party, i wanted to make major moves...

i'm in college now and she's somewhere getting high...
