=sum(calculation)
For exampe if you want to add two numbers =sum(cell#+cell #)
i.e. =sum(b2+c4) Will add the contents of the cell in the b column in the 2nd row down and the contents of the cell in the c column 4th row down.
+ is addition
- is subtraction
/ is division
* multiplication
You can also do independent calculations the same way. For example, =sum(56*23-7+5) and the answer would be 1286 (the computer will do the math in order you put it in the parenthesis, so it doesn't calculate in mathmatical order, which would be 7+5, 23-12, and 56*11 where the answer would be 616). Anyway, it just the math problem in a linear manner. If you wanted to break up the problem you would do this =sum(23-(7+5))*(56) Anyway, I hope this helps!

well you need to write what you want to calculate. for example, if you want to add 5 and 4, then you just don't put 5+4 in the box, you have to ad the = before.
This is what it will look like when you type: =5+4 (no spaces)
and when you press enter, it will automatically calculate 5 and 4, so in the box you will see: 9

If u wanted to say for example add two cells then in the box u want the answer to go into u would insert the = sign, this would let it know your doing a sum, then click the first cell u want to add, insert the + sign then click on the other cell u wanted to be added and press enter, its generaly the same with all calculations.

If you are using Excell go to the help index and type in multiply (or whatever you are trying to do.
It should give you the formulas which are something like:
sum=(b6*b5)
Below is a website that will give you more information.
Good luck!
