I have a got a tattoo long time ago when i was younger fresh of of high school because i seen how everyone else had it like my peers and i thought it was cool and back then if you had a tattoo you where considered as bold and now i regret it because now i have to go to work everyday hiding my tattoo because if i show it people would think of me different because of the type of environment i work in and now i think tattoos will get you no where in life because it's unprofessional and most people are intimated by people with them, also I have a tattoo of a butterfly with my moms name under it on my arm and my nickname on my back with stars around it

My first tattoo I got just because I wanted one - I was working as a shop assistant in a tattoo studio at the time! It was my own design (as are all my tattoos), but it didn't have any particular meaning, although I do have certain bees in my bonnet about what makes a good tattoo (primarily relating to 'readability', the factor that makes a tattoo look good from a distance and in the long term) and I incorporated these thoughts into what I chose.

My second tattoo is just above the first one and in the same style; it has a vague and wishy washy meaning in that it's sort of the elements (air/clouds, fire/the sun, water/the sea; retrospectively casting the first tattoo in the role of the earth). However I don't really make a big deal of this (because it's a bit naff, frankly - although I do still really like the tattoo).

The third has meaning - it represents a phoenix, because I wanted something to remind myself that there will always be ups and downs, and that nothing is permanent. However, it isn't a straight representation of a phoenix; it's a sort of deconstructed symbolic version - it's circular, with an egg shape at the top, moving into feather shapes, then triangles (representing fire - remember the fire triange, from school?) then smoke, and back to the egg. I actually held a sort of competition amongst my friends to see if they could guess what it was, and my housemate eventually did, but only after asking for lots of hints and, by her own admission, listing everything ever in the whole world until she hit on the right answer. So its meaning isn't obvious!

My most recent tattoo is a sort of snowflake or flower or star made of pen nibs, pencil points and the end of a pencil. Again, people see this as soon as I tell them, but don't generally spot it for themselves. Again, this tattoo has meaning for me; I have studied both art and creative writing, and wanted something to remind me of what I've acheived so far and spur me on to do more.

I hope all this makes sense, and is helpful to you.

I have four tattoos, some more significant than others.

1. My first tattoo was 3 teal and black nautical stars on my lower back...I have always liked stars and then I wanted to kid it hid from my mother, I was 18 this was in 2002 so this was pre-massive emo kid nautical star movement lol. Now everyone and their dog has this tatoo but I really don't mind.

2. Second, right after my good friend who was rediculously irish died I got a small clover on my left hip with 7 stars around it, 7 was his rugby number.

3. Third I have a skull above the stars. It has a big pink bow filled in with spider webs. I had wanted something girly yet rock so a good friend of mine drew it up for me. It is about 3 inches tall and is my favorite tattoo. Once again, I got this one back in 05 before skulls were everywhere.

4. I have a pink texas on my hip. Pink because I did not want red white a blue and a Texas as a motivator. I live in Texas now and want to move..there is an old something corporate song that says " I met a girl who kept tattoos for homes that she had loved..." so there it is. That is all.

I plan on getting a couple on my feet and who knows what else :)

I have two tattoo's (technically three). Explanation:
My first tattoo was dedicated to my late younger brother who took his life at age 20 or 21. My brother was severly depressed. The tattoo that I got in his memory was that of a burning cross. The cross was wrapped in barbed wire and I had his name tattooed above the cross.

My second/third tattoo was in chinese lettering. The first symbol means "beautiful" and the other symbol means "rage". Explanation: I got both these tattoo's to describe my demeanor. I've always liked the word beautiful and I think beautiful describes my demeanor when your own my good side. However when your on my bad side, I sometimes describe myself as going into a fit of rage.

I am planning a third tattoo as soon as I figure out where I want to place it. My third tattoo will be that of my one year old daughter's name. My daughter is the light of my light. Explanation: Enough said!

Because I was young dumb and rebellious! I got a tat right after I turned 18 without giving it much thought I picked a desgn off of the wall... Later I saw the same design tat on another girl at the mall... My 2nd tat I got was also dumb and nieve (this time I had my own design layout but the tat artist went to deep and scarred me)! A lesson well learned. I am much older now and wiser to the world of body art... For any future tattoo's they will be done at a reputable shop by a reputable licensed artist, I make sure they follow all health codes, rules, and regulations the state has demanded! Further note I make sure my art is original and has meaning! I have tribal on my leg with a rose ( so tacky and overdone) and I also have a lower back tat of tribal and a butterfly (also tacky and overdone)! I definately dont make quick decisions when it comes to permanent markings anymore! I love body art it is great way of expression (in my opinion) as long as its something personal and uncommon! I plan on having a pice drawn up to personalize the one on my leg and to fix it in general... the back I cant do anything about due to its size and scarring! Live and Learn!

I got mine just to see if I had the balls to do it. I was in the Marines, most of the guys I was with got tats right after boot camp. I swore i would never get one until I was ready. well I thought I was ready one day so I got one. It hurt at first but after while it didn't. After that I guess you could say that the pain is somewhat addictive.
I got a charicature of "Calvin" from Calvin and Hobbes on my deltoid lookin' very mischevious. He reminded me of me. My buddies showed much support as the tat really was who I am. One of my buddies just said to make sure it's what I want 'cause it will be there forever. I do not regret it, although Calvin needs a facelift. I have had a couple others, one name (on my trapezoid) which got covered up. Don't ask what I was thinking- because I wasn't!
A few years after the "named" was gone I had it covered up with a lurking black panther to remind me of the feelings I had endured before. The tattooist made a comment as he noticed I was hurting when he was inking. I said that the pain he was causing was nothing compared to the pain of who he's covering had caused, and to keep on going. I was hurting pretty bad, he thought I was going to pass out. I didn't.

So I have three, and when I can find the right one again, I will get another. I do not have a USMC tat yet but I will someday. I figured after 11 years in the Marines, I could finally get one.

I just got my first tattoo last friday with my brother, I'm 18 and he's gonna be 20 in May. We got matching star tattoos on our inner lips, one on each side. It wasn't necessarily a brother and sister commemorative tattoo, but it did mean something for us.

Our mom is pretty conservative and she doesn't approve of tattoos or piercings, so it's kinda like we got our tattoos together in defiance, but underlying fear, of what we have to deal with and might have to deal with if our mom finds out. We got them on our lips so that our mom won't see them, so we can only hope for the best that she won't and that we won't get in trouble for a tattoo that means something.

I read a lot ..... I mean a LOT. I have books in my desk at work, in my truck, in the saddle bags of my bike and in every room in my house. I probably average three or four books a week (more than that in winter.) I read everything....from best sellers to Biographies. But my favorite is fantasy (I have over a thousand fantasies in paperbook alone plus another 300 to 400 in hard back). So I had a dragon put on my left arm (closest to my heart) to represent this love. In March I'm going to get a Sci/Fi type theme on my right arm to represent my second favorite type of fiction.

good luck with your assignment

i have 2 tattoos rolled into one, so they together cover pretty much all of my back.
the one is a basic tribal picked off the wall, got it done when i was 18 and it represented my freedom from my mother for me.
Bout three years later i got a Briar rose on my back and they both flow together. Briar rose definition is: Pleasure from pain and pain from pleasure (really simplified). I got it because i am inlove with the books (kushiel triology) and also because i enjoy the pain of the needle going in my back.
It's a way of life for me, and i embrace the pain, maybe thats what makes it enjoyable for me.
