The tears that you spill, the sorrowful, are sweeter than the laughter of snobs and the guffaws of scoffers.

I would say that 'tears CAN BE or MAY BE the cleansing of the soul' but it is not a blanket statement

Like everything else we do there are degrees of spiritual action and results. I imagine there are in one extreme sociopathics who cry either to manipulate as it suits them or for some subconscious reason. Tears can come and go like the weather for many who havent a clue, it just comes... or for some misdirected reason related to their experiences.

I dont want to come of as an intellectual because I am not one and do not want to be.... but when I see tears I look to the person and the situation. For me personally tears are A cleansing but there are many other cleansing tools and some of the most spiritual beings on the planet do not cry.

When tears come out usually means there is suffering. Suffering is meant to make us learn a lesson, and that is what we are here for in this material realm. Kahlil Gibran is OK, I'd rather read something that is not so much a flowery language, a more down to earth type of philosophy.

Yes, I believe that. A lot of times all can do is cry. But I know that I'll be filled with joy.

Psalms 126:5 They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.

I very rarely cry-I'm not a very emotional person- but on the few occasions that I do it's like a release of pent up emotional energy. I don't know if it cleanses my soul but I usually feel better emotionally.

Ok but why do we cry salt water? Yes, our tears are made of exactly the same elements/consistency as the sea. We are fish with legs Sir...no soul.

Peace and Love to you too.

I think a good cry can be very therapeutic. But there comes a time to dry those tears and empower yourself to move on.
