I remember reading 1984 years ago. In it, Big Brother had a "daily hate" against the enemy. One day the war ended, so the enemy changed in the daily hate, and history was altered to reflect that the war had always been against the new enemy.

It was a very clever concept, but one that is crude compared to a "war on terror." I don't think Orwell could have ever predicted that a war could be declared on an abstraction.

Terrorism is a concept. Terrorism exists as long as terrorists exist. Terrorists are anyone who furthers their goal using unorthodox methods designed to instill fear in those other than their direct targets. This is typically done because those using terrorist tactics do not possess the military might to defeat their enemy directly (generally people with armies, bombers, aircraft, etc. have no need to engage in terrorism). There has never been a point in human history that terrorism didn't exist.

Because terrorism is an abstract concept that is always present to some degree, it can never be won, at least not permanently. Because terrorism is a tactic, the enemy can be shifted without changing the rhetoric. Once declared, a "war on terror" will persist until we choose to stop it.

If you want a real answer, ask if we can win our war in Afghanistan, or our war in Iraq. Ask if we can reduce the incident rate of terrorist attacks. We can declare victory on the "War on Terror" any time we want, because the phrase itself is without any tangible meaning, and there is only a subjective measure of whether we are "winning" or "losing."

Terror = Hate. each and each and each and all of the terrorists interior the international hate regardless of they're prepared to conflict against. a protracted time in the previous, some human beings have been given the thought they could get their comments out interior the open in the event that they killed different persons. as long as hate exists, so will terror. They pass hand in hand, and is not from now on eradicated. we are able to suppress those we call our enemy, despite if the theory will in spite of the undeniable fact that stay, and sometime, down the line, it is going to flare up back.

Terror = Hate. All the terrorists in the world hate whatever they are willing to battle against. A long time ago, some people got the idea that they could get their opinions out in the open if they killed other people.

As long as hate exists, so will terror. They go hand in hand, and will never be eradicated. We can suppress those we call our enemy, but the idea will still remain, and someday, down the road, it will flare up again.

everybody has grown up with terrorism. the difference now is that the terrorist have had a couple of spectacular success's here in the states. Terror is a tactic so if someone has a beef they can and will use this tactic if they are too weak to take us on in a conventional manner. So you will never win over the tactic all you can do is solve the reason for the terrorist motivation if possible.

no.yes. that is the point. a perpetual war against a faceless enemy that is both foreign and domestic. a war on terror has to inevitably lead to world wide domination along with nation wide advancements on civil liberites. there is no other possibility. the terrorist are both in our country and in other countries, in which case, those countries are "harboring terrorists"... 9/11 was just another another riechstag fire.

Terror is an abstract concept: you can neither lose nor win a war on an abstract concept, only against nations.
