Need a good recipe. I have attempted to make said soup but for some reason it lacks flavor. I do not wish to have a recipe that requires any tomato products.

This would probably work if you blitzed it up:

Cabbage Stew

Ingredients

20 small sprouts
2 large leaves savoy cabbage
2 small red onions
1 300g tin flageolet beans
2 teaspoons vegan boullion powder
freshly ground pepper

Chop the bottoms off the sprouts and remove the first layer of leaves. Remove the stalk from the cabbage leaves and finely shred.

Peel and finely shred the onions. Drain and wash the beans. Put all of the ingredients (except pepper) in a saucepan and cover with boiling water.

Bring to the boil and simmer for 20 minutes.

Check the vegetables are cooked before serving with a sprinkle of freshly ground pepper.

You can't go wrong by starting with a little salt pork, ham, bacon, or, if you're watching your fat content, some smoked turkey legs or wings.

Simmer the meat into a nice brothwith a couple of regular ol' yellow onions, and a bit of pepper (peppercorns work well).

Ppurely optional additions could include carrots, white beans, green onions, and celery,

When the strength of this broth suits you, toss in your cabbage and cook until it's done enough! A nice crusty bread, perhaps a little white wine, and you've got a nice dinner for pennies a serving!

Best wishes!

Sausage and Cabbage Soup:

Notes: Don't substitute a dark ale or stout for the light beer here; it can be too bitter. For quick preparation, buy a package of shredded cabbage and sliced carrots. Chop the onion and garlic while the sausage browns.

Prep and cook time: 35 minutes

12 ounces linguiça (Portuguese) or Polish sausage, sliced 1/4 inch thick
1 onion (6 oz.), peeled and chopped
1 large clove garlic, peeled and minced
5 cups fat-skimmed chicken broth
1 bottle (12 oz.) wheat beer (hefeweizen; see notes)
1 pound thin-skinned potatoes (1 1/2 in. wide), scrubbed and quartered
1 1/2 quarts finely shredded cabbage (8 to 12 oz.; see notes)
1 cup sliced carrots (1/4 in. thick; see notes)
1 teaspoon coriander seeds
1/2 teaspoon whole allspice
1/2 teaspoon peppercorns
2 tablespoons chopped parsley
Whole-grain mustard

1. In a 5- to 6-quart pan over medium-high heat, stir sausage often until lightly browned, 6 to 8 minutes. Spoon out and discard all but 1 tablespoon fat from pan.

2. Add onion and garlic to pan; stir often until limp, 3 minutes.

3. Increase heat to high. Add broth, beer, potatoes, cabbage, carrots, coriander, allspice, and peppercorns (wrap and tie spices in cheesecloth if desired). Cover and bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer until potatoes are tender to bite, 10 to 15 minutes. Discard spices if wrapped.

4. Stir in parsley. Ladle soup into bowls. Serve mustard alongside to add to taste.

Yield: Makes 11 to 12 cups; 5 or 6 servings

Are you attempting the Cabbage Soup Diet? If so, don't do it. The soup tastes disgusting, and you will not be able to eat it for more than one or two days. Trust me, my mom tried it and it was gross. You will also have mega-gas problems and no one will want to be around you because you'll be farting constantly.
