My dentist is recommending them because I have bad overcrowding and I want to avoid worse teeth problems in the future. Those of you who have had braces, any advice? A friend told me she didn't have teeth problems until she got braces, but my husband has nothing bad to say about his experience with braces. Help!!

I have had several patients get braces as an adult. You have made this far without braces so it is not a functional issue. What you need to know is that should be completely your choice. (internal motivation) Most cases have come out completely fine with the patients completely happy with the outcome. Straighter teeth, a better smile and easier dental hygiene visits. Almost any hygiene and maintainance problems you have/or may have due to crowding can be overcome with carefull brushing and flossing. . . It's just so much easier with straight teeth.

Go with experience. With adult braces its best to be treated by a seasoned orthodontist. The only really bad out come I've seen was in a friend of mine who let the dentist with several months training move the teeth too quickly and extracting the wrong teeth.
While a good deal of patients can be moved by a dentist with extra training not all patients lend them selve to "motel orthodontist" Your case sound complicate as you noted small jaw and crowding. go get it done right the first time.

My mom had them as an adult and it took a little longer for them to move her teeth to the right places, but she's never had any other problems due to having braces. I wonder how someone could associate having tooth problems with having braces. They do hurt like heck when you have them adjusted, but its so nice to have a pretty smile when you're done. I had braces about 10 years ago. The only problem I'm having now is a darn wisdom tooth. Its coming out next week by the way! WOO HOO!
Good luck with your new adventure here. I think you will be happy with your results and not ever disappointed that you got braces.

Almost any late adult age is good for orthodontic braces. Yes, the clear braces (Invisalign) would be right for her if she is a bit shy to put on traditional braces. It would be a good idea to travel abroad to India where it cost approx $2000 and enjoy the holiday. I got my lingual braces around $2050 with Dental Care India Tour. Rest is all your calculation.

Hi there, my mom is 56 years old and just had them put in last year. She got the clear kind and most of her friends don't even realize she has them in unless she mentions them or starts to clean them in front of them. =) She's pretty excited about getting them off later this year (sooner then planned as things have been going better than expected). I know my mom would give high recommendations for braces. If insurance would cover it i'd get them in (i'm about to turn 31), but since it doesn't, i'll have to wait until a later time. Good luck with whatever you decide to do!!
