my sggestion is to give her some space, and coax her into spending time with you (and don't mess with her) and she'll open up (it may take a while though)

we had a cat like that, and it lived its entire life not forgetting.

my cat was really nervous at first but i left her to do her own thing and eventually she warmed up to me and she lets me hold her wheneever now

Mess with her how? Maybe you've permanently traumatised her?
