Picture a map of the United States in your mind. The east coast is the first number, the 9. The next time zone as you move west (or left) is represented by the 8 and it is called Central. So, if you live in the next time zone over, it is Mountain Standard and you just keep going back one hour in time. So it would be a 7 o'clock. Finally, the West coast time zone is the Pacific time zone, and it would be 6 o'clock.

Because the US continent is so large it is divided into time zones, meaning that on the east coast the sun rises and sets earlier than on the west coast, with the middle states getting their sun in between. When TV shows state what time they will be shown they indicate that the program will be shown at 8:00 in the Central Time Zone and 9:00 in the east, with the western states get to see the show at 7:00 their time. The program is aired at one time, but the people in different zones will see it a their own specific zone time. I hope this explained it well enough for you to understand. Happy viewing!

The US is divided into time zones-Eastern, Central, Mountain, Pacific. So 9 in the Eastern time zone is the same as 8 in central time zone.

Primetime in the Central Time Zone in the U.S. begins an hour earlier than prime time on the East and West coasts (generally we think of "prime time," which is when the networks run their signature big ticket shows, as the time from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.)

In the Central Time Zone, prime time for tv is 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. This probably dates back to the central states' roots in agriculture. People went to bed earlier to wake up earlier to work on farms. By the way, prime time begins an hour earlier in Hawaii, as well, perhaps for the same reason.

9 Would be eastern time a show is airing 8 would be the time in the central time zone...there is also a mountain time zone and pacific time zone...when shows are advertised in the eastern and midwestern areas thats how they state it...otherwise if they said it will be on at 9 i in chicago would have missed it because i am in the central time zone and it would have been on at 8. The major news channels have their evening news at 10pm in the central time zone in the pacific time zone there news airs at 11 pm....forget it im probably confusing you...hope someone else can explain better.

TV provides 2 separate feeds for broadcast ; that which originates on the East Coast and that which originates on the West Coast.
So a show which is being broadcast from NYC at 9:00 eastern would of course be seen in Chicago at 8: 00 central
A show that is being broadcast from LA at 8:00pm pacific would be seen in denveer at 9;00pm mountain.

No it means when there aren't many jobs to be lost, they aren't likely going to suffer as much. Notice places where population density is greater alogn with jobs that depend on genertaing constant revenue from consumers, like Las Vegas is in the worst shape than any place in the entire country. And since Texas and Arizona are closer to industrialized cities on the other side of the border, thise will be the places businesses move to reduce costs of transporting their products from those areas. When Canada becomes cheaper to produce goods in than Mexico, you'll see the trend shift. better hope the government of Mexico stays unstable so the currency value and livign conditions force the kind of desperation that creates cheap labor. BTW free trade that outsourced all the jobs wasn't liberal politics, that was part of the Great Holy Reaganomics.
