Leona's is a good spot and they have many locations. Also, any of the pizza places - Uno, Due, Giordanno's, Gino's East, or Ed Debevic's really cater to kids.

Also, do not write-off high end places (if you have the money). Some of them really cater to kids. Ambria serves the children's food right away (with your appetizers) and then takes the kids back into the kitchen to help prepare your dessert. Fun, and the adults get some quality time.

Check out places on www.metromix.com - the reviews and user comments are usually very helpful.

I like to go to place that most wouldn't think of as familiy friendly but are. My faves to take the kids are Cafe Iberico on Chicago Ave. It's tapas so we order a variety and all share the small portions. The kids get to try new stuff they've never eaten before. When my 4 year old is not feeling adventurous we just order him the chicken soup. It's very loud so no one really is bother by my kiddies. We also like to go Panera Bread which has really great, healthy options for kids. Every meal includes a juice or milk and a yogurt. My older son's (10) all time favorite is Flat Top grill. we go to the one on Belmont and Southport. He loves to pick out his own ingredients. The only rule is that he has to eat whatever he concocts. He likes to stay up at the frnt and watch the guys cook his food too.

How about Bucca di Beppo. There is one in Chicago and one in Lombard. I think there are a couple more in the Chicago area. They serve good Italian food family style. I recommend 3 entrees per 4 people but if you have kids, maybe only 2 entrees per 4 people. The helpings are huge and the food is terrific.

Theres a lot but i would say the best bet would be Ed Debevics. That place is soooooo fun for kids, adults, people of all ages. Its a big 50s style diner & the waiters/waitresses are sarcastic, funny, & overall entertaining. They make ya wear the ed debevics hats, they dance to oldies music on the counters....its overall just a great atmosphere. The food is really good too!!

If you are out in the south west suburbs try Georges in Lockport, IL, or If you want some cheep Italian food try Little Joe's in New Lenox they give huge portions and it tastes good too. Bobak's in Burr Ridge has good Polish food if you are in the mood for that. It is a store with a buffet in it.
