A warm compress will help get rid of the crust and start drawing out any infection till you get to the vet but you will need an antibiotic.

Are you talking about a kitten with goopy eyes? If it is a young kitten you NEED to get it to a vet for antibiotics in case it's something nasty - an infection at a young age could cause blindness. Maybe you know this already. A kitten's eyes can be destroyed by infection, especially if they are crusted shut.

To remove crusts from a cat's eyes, get a soft washcloth wet with lukewarm (not hot) water and hold it gently against the crusts for a few minutes. Then using a soft wet tissue (and maybe a flea comb), gently peel the crusts away from the eyelids. Don't fight the cat to get all the crusts out of the hair, if the cat is fighting it; just get the eyes open.

Crusts that are so thick they hold the eye shut are probably due to something serious enough that antibiotics are necessary to prevent eye damage - even if it is only a viral primary cause, the crusts allow bacteria to grow. So you should be sure a vet is taking care of your pet.

i'm assuming her eyes have opened on the grounds that she grew to become right into a kitten and that's no longer for the 1st time. It feels like she has some style of an infection and that i'm unsure a chilly compress may be the wonderful. heat temperature very generally stimulates blood flow and feels a lot greater friendly. I very own cats, 3 of that are kittens, and the different 3 are slightly a year previous and that i understand if i've got been in the comparable catch 22 situation i could easily touch a veterinarian hun. I wish i ought to grant you greater perception and that i will assist you recognize're disillusioned and that i'm so sorry which you're valuable kitten has to bear this, yet i'm no longer a vet and regrettably, i won't have the ability to diagnose her. the wonderful ingredient so which you would be able to do, like i mentioned is touch a vet. Please get her some help, and don't concern, she would be ok, as long as she is considered. Take care, and stable success!

You have not said how old the cat is. Is it a kitten? At any rate..this is what i have done: I take a mix of peroxide and water, a cotton ball, and gently dab the eye lids. This will open the lids. However, it does sound like conjunctivitis. To clear it up you will need an antibiotic eye ointment generally prescribed from a veterinarian. Also it is contagious to other cats. Have done this many times and no the cat did not lose it's sight. Just be very gentle.

your cat probably has something in his eye. Dust, Hair, metal. He need urgent vet care, if its just one eye, and he cant keep it open. If the mucous was thick and gooey, wet, and green he probably has a cold in his eyes, Conjunctavirus, or an upper respitory infection, which also has to be delt with by a vet. Either way you need a vet. Please dont poke around the eye, if its crusty and brown then its hard and if you try to wipe this away you can end up scratching the cornea and causeing more damage. Please take him now to a vet and leave his eye alone till a proffesional gets a look at it.

it might be an eye infection. Take your kitty to the nearest vet right away. They will be able to help you. they will probably give your cat medication for his eye. One of my cats had an eye infection when he was a kitten, and that's what the vet gave me. i put it in his eye everyday for about ten days and it cleared it right up. I hope you cat gets better. Good luck!

Are you saying that it has "crust" around the eyes? If so, your cat has conjunctivitis - a comon form of cat herpes that shows up in the eyes. You will need to take her to the vet and get an ointment perscription for it.
