When you go grocery shopping do you look at the expiration dates on the product before you buy it?

Yes!!! The old store I used to go to never rotated their stock. I had bought salad dressing that was THREE YEARS out of date and had to return it, and same thing with yogurt that was over a month out of date. But it was the only store in town to buy things at.

That taught me to look at the dates.

Soemtimes when I have a lot of time other times I end up with a producat that has expired, but the stores always take it back and exchange it for a new one. It is just more hastle. I check milk and eheese producats very closely. I did have a problem with fresh chicken from the meat counter at two different stores. I do not buy checken in stores I buy them in the butcher a little more costly, but more fresh.

Yes I do. I am training my son to also take special care in looking for dates. When he picks up milk he'll ask mom is this date ok. Some stores are really bad to not rotate there stock so you have to be on the ball. My sister has bought salad dressing only to get home and find the date has already gone out. She pays more attention to things now.

Nope - The stores I shop at are open 24/7 - only close for about 36 hours the entire year. They are always stocking shelves, and I see them pull out the older stuff and put it in front - even if it's only 1 date off. They are extremely good about it. I've never gotten anything "old".

Nope. But you must take into account that I am half Swedish. We take great pride in being able to rot food. We eat it that way, too. If you don't believe me, go take a good, deep whiff of some skada or lutefisk and still try to pass it off as 'preserved' rather than 'putrified'.
