We are reflections of God's glory. Some feel that our reason, creativity, speech, or self determination is the image of God. More likely, it is our entire self that reflects the image of God. We will never be totally like God because he is our supreme Creator. But we do have the ability to reflect his character in our love, patience, forgiveness, kindness, and faithfulness.

It means having a spiritual nature, free will, moral capacity, and an immortal soul. God has no physical nature. Therefore being made in His image refers to our spiritual nature.

When man or adam was created, God said that we will make man in our own image, but then Adam sinned and cursed all mankind. Jesus came to save us from sin and make us like God intended. Like him
4In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. 5For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake. 6For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:4
