I got a cat a few years ago. I couldn't take him with me to my new place because they didn't allow pets. So my dad took her. He has had her now for the past 3 years. He decided to move out of town. We can't decide what would be easier on the cat. I am living in a place where i can keep her now but I don't know if she is used enough to me for me to take her or if my dad should take her with him because she is used to him. I always go to my dads so its not like she doesn't know me at all. I just don't know. I am willing to listen to any advise anyone might have.

If you're cat has bonded with your father, and he has the means and willingness to care for him, then leave the cat with your father. It's not fair to upset the cat's life by taking it away from the main caregiver.

Cats don't do change. It freaks them out. Either way will be a stressful adjustment. Personally, I suspect without having met either Dad or Cat, that staying with his new owner and all "his" furniture would be better even in a new house than it would be to trade owner, furniture AND house for entirely new ones. Even if he knows you.

That is assuming that Dad loves Cat and wants to continue caring for it.

Cats really don't like change. If your Dad is willing to take her with him, let him take her.

Try to spend a lot of time with her. Play with her, feed her, get her used to being around you. See if your dad can bring her to your place, where he'll be around so she can feel comfortable and get used to the new surroundings. Once she starts to get more relaxed, you can take her in permanently.

I think your dad wants to keep her. But he probably won't just flat out say that to you because he wants you to have the opportunity to have her if that is what you want. Dads are like that.
