depends on the substance. if you are doing cocaine, meth., or anything along those lines and you can not stop doing them then go into a hospital rehab program and see what the best ways to treat are. try to get an informed answer from someone like a doctor before u do anything.

Depends on where you are, I have all the places if you're in NY. Otherwise, go to na.org for your local hotline and they will give you the number of a couple of places. They can also tell you what places will take you if you have no insurance. Most insurance companies will only cover a standard detox (7 days), which if you have a problem is NOT enough. The actual 28 day (sometimes 29) rehab is usually not covered. Better to go in as a No Insurance client to receive all of the benefits. Rehab is an extraordinary place where you will meet people in similar situations who are going through all the same things you are, counselors who will listen to you and help you get your life back on track, and generally a place where you can be at peace and get back your life. Good luck and I have nothing but best wishes for you!!

#1 talk to your doctor. Most of the rehabs here in canada require you to do a minimum of 3 day clean from any chemical before being admitted into the house.
Hospitals usually house the detox unit as they have the medical staff to cover most behaviours that occur due to detox. Most of the programs i have looked into are residential as it is a less clinical atmosphere. Helps the defences lower so that they may address the issues at hand. Most programs i know of are based on the 12 steps of recovery and will mainly focus on the first 7. In a 3 week program so go over each about 3 times. Most also are involved in the communities they are situated in. You go to AA/NA meetings outside the house and have a regular routine for the day time.

I dont know what kinda drug you are trying to kick. If it's heroin, I have been throught detox and both maintenance. Do not do maintenance. It's harder to kick the methadone than the heroin and the withdrawal lasts a lot longer. If you have to do the methadone route, go on a 21 day detox where the give you less and less each day. If you can have the willpower and wean yourself off the drug; that would be best. If it's methamphetamines that you are addicted to then you need to just dry out yourself. Take some sleeping pills and see if you can sleep most of the 3 days. I tell you though it's not easy. It's all a mental thing of course there is the physical aspect to it as well. But its the mental thing that is going to be the hardest. The physical withdrawal leaves quickly but the mental addiction can stay with you for sometimes up to a year. It can be tough so you have to be tough as well. I wish you good luck if you're really serious about kicking drugs.

I would try your local hospital. In some cases they have a rehab unit right there inside. I know the one in Salt Lake City has one right up the street from the University of Utah Hospital. So, Check with your local hospital, they will help you out.

Rehab is definitely an appropriate method to end an addiction.
They work with you and will support you one hundred per cent. The nurse 's are skilled in drug addiction and will assess you and help you through the bad days. I think you are very smart to get professional assistance at a very difficult time and your motivation and desire will lead you to the road to recovery. Congratulations on your decision and I wish you the best. Stay strong, determined, and patient. You will do it!!

Have been addicted to many drugs, and I find the hospital better for me. It is up to the individual themselves. The hospital and the detox centers can help clean the substance out of your system, but you have to be the one to be ready to help yourself.

well im recovering from 8 years of crap in my system, which would take aproximatly 3 years to fully completely detox from your body.
my best suggestion is to talk to your doctor, get an assestment and see what is best for you, some times just normal councelling works,
but thats just my opinion
good luck

The recidivism rate is HUGE. I think there is no effective therapy.
The problem, lies in our own humanity and, specifically, in our society. There is no good answer. I know of no complete sucessess, only parital recovery for a short time. Don't fight it, control it.
