I think there should be designated smoking areas such as a space outside of public buildings where smokers can go but no smoking in enclosed areas. Even my husband will agree with this and he smoked for years. As an ex smoker he gets really nasty sinus headaches the next day after he has been a place where smoking is allowed.

If it's banned in public then folks with oxygen can go out in public

Last Yahoo news I read there are now 577 different localities that have banned public smoking, This sounds like a small number but it affects 1/2 of the US population

Because it is a matter of opinion and not a direct question it depends on the one answering at the time.
Since it's me and I like to pretend I'm special I'm going to say;
Yes.

Because from a public health standpoint that is the only right answer.

(Not to mention all the millions of people who light up every day, then drive, then light up again... that's a lot of smoke and yes it has the same effect as any other smoke. That same effect is the same affect pollution is having so really it IS only adding to the worlds misery. That and cancer to the smoker.)

No I do not think that it should be banned in all public places but I am a non-smoker and I am glad that there are places that you cannot smoke. My husband is a smoker and he just doesn't understand how bad it smells and how it makes eveything else smell bad..

Yes, smoking should be banned in all public places. I have noting against smokers and it never really bothered me until my town went smoke-free. Now I realize how much better I feel after spending a night in a bar or crowed place; no more dry eyes, no more smelly clothes and hair. Plus, it is not fair for people who choose not to smoke to have to breathe second hand smoke from people who choose to. Whether you smoke or not is your choice, but keep it to yourself.

As far as inside buildings, Yes it should be banned completely! They can wait till they get outside to smoke. When it comes to outside events and public places outdoors, I believe designated smoking sections would work fine for everyone. The smokers can still suck down their cancer in their sections and the non smokers can have their fresh air in theirs!

I really like eating at a non smoking establishment.I think when going to eat out, the smell adds to the enjoyment of the meal.If it is an italian restaurant, you should smell the garlic,the fresh baked bread,ect. I also have allergies and appreciate not having itchy eyes,or having to use an inhaler to breathe better. In a shopping mall, the air has a better quality,and it is more pleasurable to spend time there.

I think people should have the freedoms they want UNTIL it affects someone else. Second hand smoke affects me, so I have the right to be where I want to be without having to smell it. Here in California it already is banned in most all public places, and within 20 ft of entrances to buildings.

Court buildings,City Hall,Public Libraries,& those sort of Public places should be smoke free,however I feel that business owners should have the right to make their own choice for their public places.
