a person in california has received therapy from a general family medicine doctor for 4 months with no re-examinations performed. The doctor did not keep treatment notes; therefore, how does a doctor @ a facility with several doctors providing treatment to my friend know if she needs to keep treating or not. He never asked how she was doing with the treatment.

the friend was in a car accident and has neck and back symptoms (minor). the doctor kept treating her with physical therapy. the doctor never asked her how she was doing or if the treatment helped. She justhad to keep treating per the doctor's outline. Did she need all of that treatment? (3-4 months worth). Shouldn't a doctor have to re-examine (he is a medical doctor-family practice). There are several different doctors who gave her the treatment.

Depends upon the diagnosis and nature of treatment. Please give more detail.

Since you say Minor neck and back pain, it does seem a little much to have therapy that long. I broke my femur and only had therapy for 2 months. Also, there should have been follow-up appointments, at least every 4-6 weeks to check the progress.
