Work on developing an inside/out swing path. Work on getting your hips out of the way as your start your downswing. Most golfers slice the ball because they come "over the top." This happens because they allow their shoulders to turn first in the downswing. At the top of your swing, your first move should be to shift your weight to the left leg (if your right handed). Do this by turning your hips while keeping your shoulders square to the target line. Check your divots. If they are straight down the target line or pointing slightly to the right of the target line, your in good shape. Use another club in front of your feet to help you get square to the target line.

Spend more time practicing your short game than your long game. Learn to keep your emotions in check. HAVE FUN! It's a game.

By the way I also agree with terenceworks answer in regards to the long game. Let it rip. Jack Nicklaus as a ten year old was taught by his instructor to hit the ball as hard as he could. He learned control later. Nicklaus said that it is harder to learn to strike ball powerfully as you get older when your swing is already grooved.

Learn to hit the ball as far as you can. That's the direction golf is going. Once you can hit the ball solid, you can work on compacting your swing to gain control. Forget about that easy swing crap that the old people tell you. Just rip it !

Find a pro to whom u can relate and establish a gr8 relationship with based on a trust. Keep going to him/her for lessons and coaching. Remember...Tiger still has a coach. Good to see a younger interest.
