I am SO tired of liberals and their EPA garbage and their ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS plans for the American people. They make day to day life SO much more complicated than it needs to be by having all these STUPID restrictions on EVERYTHING you do. I do what I can to save energy so I don't have a high electric bill......even have a star energy house that keeps my electric bill around $200 even though it is 4000 sq feet. I do ALL OF THIS (which cost me over $15000 in extras when my house was built) and now they tell me that I can't have a regular light bulb because it uses too much energy. ARE YOU GUYS NUTS? What do we do to stop the ridiculousness?

I TOTALLY AGREE. I can't believe some of the stuff the EPA is doing. Most of it is a scam to make money. I am sure glad I don't live with you over in the democrat-infested liberal California with you! Maybe you could afford the high dollar light bulbs over there if property was at a reasonable price.

Yes, there are nuts out there in the world. And some want to completely dictate your needs.

However, consider this. I am not a believer in global warming and the doom and gloom people. But, now that prices and quality are up on the compact flourescents, they really do make sense in a lot of places. I switched approximately 75% of the bulbs in my house with no degradation to the light quality and I did it solely based on the economics.

However, what would concern me is that there are locations that compact flourescents will not work well or survive as long as normally. That is why the other 25% of my bulbs will never be flourescents.

So, see which bulbs you can switch over to flourescents and if you need any regular bulbs in the future, perhaps you can smuggle them into the state without being arrested for contraband.

I could imagine CA doing a much better job of keeping out incandescent bulbs than they have of keeping out illegals and drugs.

Yes, there is a proposal to outlaw incandescent light bulbs in California. The legal system run amok! The market place will gradually replace most incandescent light bulbs by more energy efficient options, as is proper in a free society, but this law's attempt for force it without regard to a free market sounds like communism, or Khmer Rough type total control where they did things like force farmers to dig irrigation canals that went up hill because some government official thought it was a shorter route!

It's simply a good idea.

It will save people money in the long run. We'll have to build fewer expensive and polluting power plants. And it will be one useful tool in fighting global warming, although it's hardly a complete solution. Incandescent light bulbs are basically obsolete devices that waste energy. Thomas Edison would no doubt be the first to agree. And no modern office building would dream of using them.

I think an outright ban is politically unwise. Maybe an energy waste tax of $5 a bulb that goes to fight global warming. It will accomplish pretty much the same thing.

Headline: California may ban conventional lightbulbs by 2012

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A California lawmaker wants to make his state the first to ban incandescent lightbulbs as part of California's groundbreaking initiatives to reduce energy use and greenhouse gases blamed for global warming.

Very interesting piece of legislation. Pundits say what happens in California will be law of the land within 20 years.

LOL
I hadn't heard that, but then, I wouldn't doubt it for a moment. Typical Liberals think they're sooooo much smarter than the rest of us.

Arrogant *****!

If they aren't controlling every aspect of your life from screwing in a light bulb to how many squares of toilet paper you can use (wait they are pushing bedais (sp?)), they aren't satisfied. They are never happy or satisfied.
