No. You can expect to drop 1-2 pounds a week

This is a very achievable goal. Standard diet practice indicated a loss of 1/2 to 2 lbs per week is healthy...this gives you a range of 20-80 lbs over a 10 month period.
Dont just pick a diet plan out of your hat though. Talk to a nutritionist and maybe a personal trainer to work out what will be best for you. Remember that going to the gym can increase muscle mass ( muscle is heavier than fat ) so get yourself measured....that way you know that you are getting smaller even if the # on the scale stays the same. Also except that your body may only give up 1/2 lbs a week rather than the 1 1/2 lbs you are wanting. GOOD LUCK ! :)

I think that it is a good goal. It might be a little under, since it is only 6 pounds a month that you're looking a dropping. But then again, you don't want to lose weight too fast for health reasons and the fact that you could gain it back rather quickly, too.
Drink lots of water and make sure that you're hydrated. I would also recommend a protein supplement to help you keep your lean muscle mass.
Another thing, if you're going to the gym, walking, etc., you might be losing inches as opposed to pounds. You'll see a difference there, especially if you are weight training. Don't forget that muscle does weigh more than fat and that you need to burn approximately 2000 calories to lose one pound of fat.
Above all, don't get discouraged! I'm in the middle range for losing weight and it is sooo hard to lose any weight!
But eating healthier, exercising, getting enough sleep and having a positive outlook will do wonders for you!
Good luck!

Achievable but be careful not to set limits so high that you have a high chance of failing to reach that point. Remember...How many years did it take you to put on those extra 60lbs? A lot of people get frustrated or depressed when they try to diet and do not see the results they wanted.

My suggestion would be to try and break that down into smaller successes. For example, Tell yourself that you want to lose 10 lbs in the next 2 months. Once you achieve or exceed that goal, then look at the next two months the same way.

By breaking down the goals into a more achievable range, you then are less likely to become depressed and stop the regimen that you started.

I do think you are on the right track though...diet and exercise is the key. It's simple math...if you take in less calories than you burn off, you will lose weight.

Congratulations for you are on the road to success! I do think you should have lost a couple of pounds in two weeks and this leads be to believe that you need to decrease your sodium content and drink more spring water. I believe that this could be the problem, if your sodium intake is high then you will retain fluid and will not lose weight. Increase your potassium by eating fruits and vegetables and increase your fiber as well. From what you indicated your caloric intake plus you 45 minutes of walking will get you down to your desired weight loose. Be confident, stay motivated, and let us know how you are doing next week. Post another question so I can help you. You are on the right track and I expect you to lose at least 2 pounds by the end of this week. Best of Luck to you.

yea its a very achievable goal if you break it down. it works out that you should lose about 6 pound a months ... theres then four weeks in a month so tht works out at around 2 pounds a week you should be losing in order to achieve your goal! its all well and good eating less than 1500 calories a day but it also depends on what you're eating ... if your eating junk then theres no point in even starting because that has a lot of unhealthy fats in it. you should get your fats from things like avocado etc, make sure your doing the right exercises to achieve maximum weight loss, i recomend asking someone at your gym, i would also recomend doing a lot of cardiovascular exercises. also make sure that your 2 hours at the gym arent wasted standing around being to scared or wasted by not exercising to your full potential. oh and make sure you drink plenty of water!

sorry about it being so long.

good luck :)

Yea, you can safely lose 2lbs a week. I would see if after a month you've lost anything. Don't be discouraged because you are definitely going to lose the weight with what you are doing. When I try to lose weight I exercise more days and then for maintenance after, 3 days. I've lost weight as fast as from 1 day to the next but it's not always like that.

I am going to do the master cleanse which is basically meant to cleanse ur bodie of any impurities. It really cleans u out. It may not be for everyone though. You can google it and find the information to be better informed. Everyones body is different and it is all about being focused, determined, and most of all READY! Wanting to lose the weight is one thing but don't focus on the number. You may ad you may not do it in that span of time but that doesn't mean that you won't meat ur weight loss goal. Focus, keep record of ur habits and of couse set a goal but don't give up at the first sign of some sort of "failure". Remember it takes time to get it off but not to put it on so go forward and not back.

60 pounds is a realistic goal. When my husband deployed last year, I lost 30 pounds over a 4 month period. I wanted to do it for me, and him being gone gave me the freedom to try any stupid thing I wanted to do to lose weight. For me, less food and better choices (lots of veggies) did more for my weight than the gym. The gym sculpted and rearranged my body more than showing pounds falling off. Each person is different, so experiment with what works for you. I do think 60 is very realistic and hope you reach your goal. Working hard is the best way to get there!

Definitely. It's recommended that you only lose 2 pounds a week. At first the weight will melt off, then it will seem to slow down. When it slows down you just need to step it up a notch and increase your excercise. 1500 calories a day is still too much. Drop it to 1200... that's the recommended daily amount for a healthy diet. If you're not losing any weight, then you need to work harder and eat even less. Drink a lot of water.

Yes, I think this goal is very do-able. That's only 6 pounds a month! Just keep at it and give it some time, pretty soon the weight will start coming off. Good for you for deciding to do something. I need to do the same thing!! Good luck!
