You can't compare generations. People get bigger, training is different, these guys are all on steroids now a days. Sport takes a evolutionary process, it takes years for styles to change for them to master training techniques that work, teaching also gets better because the trainers have all the history take from. You can say maybe Lennox Lewis would beat Joe Louis in a fight, but the games changed. So how can you really compare? What happens if you take Ali, with todays diet and training methods, put Ali on steroids, Now Ali is 240lbs. all ripped, he would kick everyones ***.

Ali, quickest, with good chin, there were several fights that made him the best: first Liston, Williams, Foreman. It was actually a loss which made him better. He learned to watch out for over head left hands after the first Frazier fight. He was clearly conscious of them. If he had a weakness it was the punch Frazier hit him with.

Ever?
Ali hands down. His hand speed was tremendous. He had power to accompany his speed. He also had strategy that added to his defense. A family friend of mine grew up in the same part of Louisville as Ali and would tell me about how Ali would train in the summer with sweat pants and boots... in the summer time and that's before he went before before he was even in the olympics. Ali was the man and eventhough Marciano had the best record ever with 49-0 Ali was in a time of greater champions and by far a league of his own.

now...? no one they all suck lol

Joe Louis. He had power, discipline, accuracy. His fight against Billy Conn showed his true mettle. He was losing near the end of the fight, and all Conn had to do was get on his bicycle, but Louis took him out and denied Conn the championship. The great ones don't leave anything to chance. They forge their own destinies.

anybody mentioned plus Zora Folley and that i will show Quarry lower back. those adult men the two had tragic endings to their lives. Folley even in spite of the undeniable fact that he grew to become right into a appropriate ranked contender for a number of years grew to become into only ever given one shot on the call. Quarry fought in an era whilst the competition grew to become into severe plus he grew to become into decrease so in many cases that his fights did no longer final the entire rounds.

when i was younger (I'm 38) i thought Ali was great. turns out i was just influenced by older people. i have watched a lot of his fights on ESPN classic and he was a dirty fighter but he was also tough. i used to think Tyson had it ,then i thought holyfield was the best. but i hate to admit this but i think the best of all time was lennox lewis

At his peak, I would take Iron Mike over any one of them. If you look at his entire career got to take Ali.

RJ

PROLOGUE - IT IS ODD THAT PEOPLE THINK THAT YOU CAN'T COMPARE FIGHTERS BECAUSE OF MODERN PROGRESS/TECHNOLOGY. IF THAT IS THE CASE WHY AREN'T TODAY'S FIGHTERS BETTER. IS THIS TRUE FOR OTHER SPORTS? USING THAT ILLOGIC IS RUTH, BROWN, OWENS AND ROBERTSON NO LONGER GREAT?

ALI IS THE GREATEST!!!
