I like Kit Kat's answer, but you can do this too. You can get a small contailer, like a large cool whip container and put some litter in it. Find a small paper bag and put the container with the scooper in it in the bag. this is out of sight except the little bag and the scooper in the litter so no smell. Actually, the litter box and scooper and litter should be in an area that is private to the cat, a non traffic area. They will feel confortable using the box then without any hesitation and then you wont have any accidents anywhere else. Good Luck and congradulations, you have a life time friend. And thank you for adopting. Remember spay or neuter has to be at 5 and a half months old to prevent un wanted litters and urinary infections. If you are going to de claw, do the fronts only and do it at the same timeas spaying or neutering.

We have these rubbermaid containers that have wheels that we store our dog/cat food in that I bought for like $7. I bought an extra one that I keep the cat litter & the scoop in. This way I come home from the store open the bag and pour the new kitty litter in and it is on wheel so I can easily move it in and out of my storage closet. Plus that cats and dogs can't get into it.

My scooper came with a stand. Even so, I place it in my utility closet so it is always out of sight. Also, just as you should clean your litter box with mild soap and water on a regular basis, so should you clean your scooper on a regular basis.

I just tuck mine, yucky side down, between the litter box and the wall.
