i wouldn't. all vista is is a prettyified (idk if thats a word) version of XP that requires permissoin to do ANYTHING. they say it is to help prevent spyware and viruses, but it is really more annoying than anything, and redundant if you already know how to prottect your computer. also it is a resource w***e. microsoft wanted to make the minimum requirements 1GB of RAM, buthte computer manufacturers strongarmed them into 512MB as a minimum. which is kinda stupid since it requires 750MB on startup (as of RC2)

your card cannot support DX10, and it would probably strain to run the 3-d effects of vista aero. if you really want to upgrade to vista, wait till you are ready for a new comp, and getr a graphics card that supports DX10. otherwise htere is no reason for oyu to upgrade, ewxcept for the prettyness of vista.

I hope you have a license for that copy of XP! Seriously the copy may be backdoored or send your details to a hacker/thief Just insert the copy of xp and install over vista. I would partition the HDD to check that it works because if it doesn't you are screwed once you have deleted vista. Try it in virtualbox which is free software that allows you to install an operating system inside another one. You could try downloading Ubuntu (not via utorrent - try an official site) and using it instead. It is not good for games but is supported at least (your copy of xp won't be registered so you won't get service packs or updates!) Install wubi to find out if Ubuntu if good enough for you. It will be faster on your system and can do everything except window's games.

Sure, go ahead and give Microsoft and the federal government complete access to all of your personal files and information.
That is what Vista does best.
Oh, didn't they tell you that?
I wonder why?
Maybe you should do some research first before you just accept it as the best and greatest thing ever.
Yes, with Vista the spyware in now part of the operating system.
Now the Feds can look into the PC of anyone that is running Vista anywhere in the world, isn't that nice?
~BTW~ My next PC won't come with Vista that is for sure.
I am moving to Mac.
No more Microsoft for me.

I would recomend that you don't.

Vista definitly isn't a step backwards, but it isn't really all that big a leap forwards either. It's best to just save your money.

Microsoft really hyped Vista up and tried to make it sound awesome, but when people got their hands on it finally they were very underwhelmed. The "new and improved graphics" do look nice, but they really sap your computer's processing power. And the "enhanced security features" have already been hacked to death, even before Vista was released.

So my answer would be: If you happen to buy a new machine in the future that has Vista on it already, then that's cool. But don't waste your money upgrading your current machine.

From watching the news last night about Vista, they said if you PC was more than a year and a half old, it would have problems trying to run Vista.

As for me, I'm sticking with XP until Microsoft irons out all the bugs.

I've upgraded to Vista. My PC is as good as it gets in terms of "specs". Vista kicks major a**, and is awesome. You DON'T NEED TO upgrade right now...but the next computer you buy will obviously come with it.

Well, I am going to wait a little long. That's because Vista is still new and programs and games are not yet developed. Also Vista is new and new O.S. sometimes have bugs and loop holes in them. So wait another month or two then upgrade so you don't lose money and harm you computer.

You will have to eventually. Thanks to Gates anti competition business ways. I also have real fears about privacy. Bill Gates has worked very close to the government on this one. More then usual. Now look at this secret police administration. I get the creeps. Since Rumsfeld stated that he believed the Internet should be restricted and treated as an enemy, they want full spectrum dominance. Phycops including sending disinformation to the American public. He hates that poeple online can get better info then just the crap memos that the Pentagon and White House just hand out to the press as NEWS. Then get all indignant when their blatant lies are so easily exposed.
I see they really hate democracy.
Let us fight them from messing with the net...Mary.

I wouldn't bother until it's been around for awhile. There are bound to be problems, especially considering the fact that all the old code from XP is still there (that's why the install is so HUGE). I'd wait until after the first or second round of fixes. Besides, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."
