I think it's suppose to, you know where the neautral, drive, rear stuff is, the panel should light up shouldn't it? It's really annoying changing gears in the dark when I can't even see it... I need to know so I can take it in and fix it.

Yes it IS supposed to light up, hon. Don't wait. Take it to the dealership. Try a Saturday morning.. they are less crowded but do show up early.
Leaving a car at Ford Dealerships isn't pleasant!

yes it should light up, pull the cover to find the bulb :)
