Microsoft Office 2003 will not work?

I installed Micrsoft Office 2003 because the version on my computer does not work. After re-installing and opening up Word it gives me the same message:
"Microsoft Word has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

I am not sure if it did not install completely. I tried to Update some security for Office 2003 from the website, but when i open it, it does not find MS Office 2003. But i know it is on my computer.

Is Office not installed properly or is it something else? Help?

uninsatall office 2003 from the contrrol panel then go too program files in safemode and remove the microsoft office 2003 files then restart your computer then reinstall m-s - office

Uninstall the program, reboot your computer, then reinstall the program. Make sure there aren't any scratches or dust on the install CD. Reboot the computer after you install it, then run any updates, then see if it will work.

Call the registration office, it should be on the disk, and ask for help. if not check your C drive, you may have not installed it all
