Pascal's wager:

"If god exists, it's infinitely better to believe, since you get heaven instead of hell for eternity. If he doesn't, it doesn't matter since you're dead anyway. So overall it's better to believe"

This is, of course, false.

Some of the problems with the argument:

* The implied assumption that god may exist (with a 50% probability, no less!)

* The assumption that there is an afterlife with a heaven and hell

* The assumption that the god cares about belief in him/her above all else

* The assumption that if you believe in a god, it will definitely be the same god that actually exists.

* The assumption that you lose nothing if it's false. You have lost a great deal, from time praying to a nonexistent entity (somebody mentioned just today praying several hours a day!!!) to morality (your god may ask you to hurt other people) and much more besides.

* The assumption that people can believe in something simply because it benefits them. Would you believe goblins exist for twenty bucks? Why not?

* The assumption that any god won't see through the "believing just to get into heaven" ploy.

God, Hell and Heaven fall in the same domain as the invisible pink unicorn.

I can't prove any of them don't exist but I don't worry my life away about it.

I don't believe in Hell, especially a Hell like that where people who are moral, kind hearted etc would get sent to Hell just for not believing. Why would someone be punished for not believing? It doesn't make sense.

No.

I'm sitting in the spectator stands at a football game.

I'm not afraid that the referees will call a penalty on me.

Nope, because I don't believe your God is running things, and if by some horrible twist of fate he is, I say bring it on. I'd rather go to your hell then bow down and worship that tyrant.

You answered your own question - non believers don't believe in God and so don't believe in heaven and hell to them its a nonexistent threat.

Ain't you afraid Zombies will eat your brain if you walk in a graveyard at night - No? Never, you don't believe in Zombies?

the existence of hell is not dependent upon the fear of it....neither upon unbeliever's ignorance of it.....but only on God's Word.

" He that believeth and is baptized SHALL BE SAVED; he that believes not SHALL BE DAMNED ". - Jesus

"So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, and shall cast them into the furnace of fire; there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth". - Jesus (Matt. 13:49)
