Im a real Pagan and if they dont like thier own sects then they should say that Catholics are a sect of christianity, just one that they dont agree with, instead of spreading lies that catholics are Pagan.

That's right. The 'paganism' in Catholicism is not at all Pagan. Its insulting to both Catholics and Pagans.

I agree. Catholics were the first Christians, therefore should not inherently be considered pagan.

However, some catholic belief and the way some things are structured are very similiar to old school pagan belief. I may piss some people off by saying this, but if you do some research, you'll see very similiar symbology and what not tied into catholicism. However, it flows through, although a little looser, with some of the other christian sects.

I'm a Protestant (United Methodist) and I would never call a Catholic person a Pagan, just as I would never call you a Catholic.

Roman Catholics believe differently than I about some issues, as do Southern Baptists, Pentecostals, and others. The apostle Paul called these things "opinions," and he instructed Christians not to quarrel over them (Romans 14.1).

The things that matter to Christians, the things that we all agree on, are the matters of salvation. Belief in Jesus the Christ as the Son of God is chief among the matters of salvation. Anyone who believes is a Christian; the "opinions" determine what branch or denomination one calls home. Anyone who does not believe is a "pagan," or an "anti-christ," according to 1st John 2.22.

I even have not heard of the Catholic church being called Pagan yet i assume if human beings do hurl that accusation that is probable based on the celebrations like Christmas coinciding with the date of pagan fairs etc. the place do fundamentalists get the thought the call of yet another set of ideals ie Paganism is an insult? probable from this verse: Matthew 6:32 For the pagans run regardless of each little thing those issues, and your heavenly Father is familiar with of which you desire them. The term Pagan is translated Heathen or Gentile in different translations. for this reason to a pair the term Pagan now no longer refers to a particular faith yet a catch all word to communicate over with anybody they do no longer evaluate considered one of their own. Oh one greater notice that i'm hoping will help fundamentalists and catholics comprehend one yet another a sprint greater effectual: Fundamentalists sense as passionate suitable to the inerrancy of their bible as catholics sense suitable to the infalibility of the pope.

Only ignorant Protestants would do that. I was raised Protestant, and never once heard anyone call Catholics "Pagans"... one would have to be quite ignorant as to the history of Christianity to do that.

Most non-Catholic Christian denominations accept Catholics as Christians. A very few do not.

A dictionary would say that a Christian is someone professing belief in Jesus as Christ or following the religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus.

Catholics would fit this definition.

In the Nicene creed, from 325 A.D., Catholics profess:

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, one in being with the Father.

Through Him all things were made.

For us and our salvation He came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit, He was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man.

For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered, died, and was buried.

On the third day He rose again in fulfillment of the scriptures: He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We are baptized as Jesus commanded in Matthew 28:19, "in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."

We truly are spiritually "born again," we just don't usually use those words.

With love in Christ.

What's more disturbing is that they don't even know that the Catholic Church put the Bible together. Yes, the one and only Bible that they revere.
Where do they think it came from? The sky? Their ignorance is depressing.
Oh, I shouldn't have said that. Only Catholic bashing is allowed on the site.

I don't recall protestants calling Catholics pagans. However, I believe that they are ritualistic and that is not of God.
