Think about tbhis. Have you ever noticed the number of stray cats out and about. Most of them are black and white. It would be impossible for anyone to guess what kind of cat you have from the fact he has a black tail

It's really hard to tell by color alone. He's probably a, as you would say with dogs, a 'mutt', no specific breed but a mixed breed. Color might play a part, long hair, short hair, shape of face length, all contribute. A vet might be able to brake breed down a little more.
You do really know as much as you need though, he's yours, and you probably love him. Nothing else really matters.

I'd say you have an Alley Cat! Not sure what a Moggy is. Must be Brit for the same; Alley Cat!

He is a Moggie , non pedigree cat. I have four lovely Moggie cats of my own. Well rounded cats.

Are his ears colored, too? Does he have longish hair? If so, he could be a turkish van. If not, he's probably just a cool looking Domestic short hair.

He's probably not a purebred. Your vet would call him a"domestic shorthair" (or longhair). I had one like him years ago. He was a great cat.

he isn't a purebred. It is just a plain simple moggie.
