Hi there...there are several possibilities as to why a cat would be frequently hungry. Examples such as: intestinal parasites, metabolic disorders (e.g. diabetes, hyperthyroidism, etc), or overeating as a result of boredom are some possibilities. Ideally, cats should be fed on a schedule to be able to monitor their portions so that if there are any health-related concerns the lack or increase of appetite will be notably the first indication.

Have you had your cat de-wormed recently or at all? If yout cat goes outside or has been exposed to a cat or animal that does, it could have worms. If a cat has worms it may not necessarily look underweight - or even overweight. The large cluster of worms in it's belly can make it appear normal even though the worms are eating all of the nutrition that your cat takes in from its food . I would start there by getting a de-worming solution from the vet as soon as possible. After that you should put your cat on a regular feeding schedule and stick with it. Not all cats will overeat if they are left to graze whenever they wish, but some will.

Get her checked for worms. If she is already on file at a vets office,,you need just take in a fresh sample of her stool in a jar for testing. If she has worms,,the vet will give meds for that type of parasite according to the cats weight. To weigh a pet,,stand on a scale that is accurate while holding the pet.step of the scale & weigh yourself,,then subtract your weight from the first & that is the weight of the pet. Some parasites are not seen with the humane eye but under a microscope.

you need to give it an arranged amount daily, give it a cup of feed in the morning and maybe a 1/2 cup at night. if your cat is a kitten it may be hitting a growth spirt and eating more other wise you HAVE to control what they are allowed to eat. get yourself a nice rubber container and put the extra food in there so it cant bite a hole in the food bag and eat and eat. they are like people you let them eat to much and get overweight and they can develope bad health problems...good luck

Limit her food intake. Overeating isn't good (for anyone). But get her checked out by the Vet too, just incase. She could have some sort of disorder or worms or something. Doesn't hurt to be careful.

Just put food down twice a day about 2/3 of a cup each time to start and the cut it back to 1/2 cup each time. Don't give her canned food, but a well balanced dry one like Iams.

how old is she?? kittens are food recycling centers....need lots of food for growing so fast.......if belly is round and firm, see ver--there are parasites that like kitten insides.....kitten vet visits take care of this.....giardia and round worms and flat worms....if you see rice-like substance when kitty gets up after lying down for long time, that is called tape worms. kitties get that one from fleas they bite and ingest.
if kitty has not been to the vet in a long time, it might be time for a check--bring a stool sample.
if kitty is just going to the dry food and taking betes very often, kitties snack----they take time at the dish just to get a couple of bites and leave--that is normal.
check your kitty for fir, round belly---passing frequent gas, rice-looking stuff when kitty gets up.
if there is no sign of problems--and kitty is not fat, i would not worry--kitty will snack a lot. and baby kitties are food recycling plants for about a year..........then they are spozed to be adult.....
and if the belly seems to be growing, mebbe she is preggers--does she go outdoors??
if she is preggers, then, about 6 weeks after the kitens come, have mama spayed. try to keep her indoors--there are many predators for kitty--dogs, humans--poison and cars--and coyotes--many things want to kill kitty----be good to her and keep her indoors...

put her on a schedule; do not let them have food in front of them all the time. It is not healthy for one. check to see if your cat has a eating disorder.Your vet can check this .
