The Trinity, as traditional Christianity tries to explain it, does not make sense because they have it all wrong.
The Trinity, or Godhead, is composed of three separate and distinct individuals, God, the Father, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, and the Holy Ghost, spiritual assistant to the other two. The first two have physical bodies of flesh and bone just as tangible as ours. The third is a personage of spirit so that He can better influence us and give us revelation and inspiration as needed. They are one in purpose. Their goal is unitedly to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of mankind. Jesus is literally the first born son of God in the Spirit and the only begotten son of the Father in the flesh. On numerous occasions, God spoke from Heaven while His son was on earth in the flesh, showing the distinction between the two. God is not schizophrenic, He does not have a split personality. They are two people working in concert to accomplish the same purpose.
I would be happy to elaborate on this privately.

Wow Father K, I had no idea that catholics had such a profound lack of understanding of the true nature of God, His Son, and the Holy Spirit.
That series of scripture makes no sense whatsoever. It is basically circular reasoning the conclusion of which can be summed up to four words: "We have no idea."

Certainly not to the natural mind since it beyond space and time. It is not meant as an intellectual exercise for a finite being to comprehend the infinite.
It is to be accepted by faith.
The first statement in the holy bible is, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." God offers no apologetical argument to convince you of this fact. You just accept it.

God is one ousia in three hypostasis, inspeperable spacially and chronologically. The Trinity was formulated in a society where Aristotle was required reading if you wanted to get a job as a fruit vendor. It isn't surprising that people have trouble understanding it these days.

I am Christian, I believe the three are separate, but equal in glory,
power, and holiness.Jesus prayed to His Father, Jesus said " He who sent me is greater than I"Jesus sits at the right hand of His Father. This Kingdom was given to Jesus,He will be our Lord,He will reign,He has the same power as His Father after His sacrifice..I like to say it in this manner. You have a egg,it has
three individual parts, shell, yolk, white, the three parts can be separated ,yet to have a complete egg,you need all three parts.

Sure
I work on a crew that repairs airplanes. We are "Tubs". There are three people who make up Tubs. Our Supervisor and two sheet metal workers. It takes all three to repair the airplane. We are all parts of one crew. Three people , one crew. A trinity.
So let US make man in OUR image is sort of like let US make TUBS for this airplane.
I hope that helps.

1 - The word Trinity is never mentioned in the bible. Instead God said "God is ONE".
2 - Jesus Himself said in the bible "never considered equality with God, something to be grasped". This means, its a concept beyond you or me. Don't waste time on this, just focus on your salvation.
3 - If you want to know, God is one, Jesus is God, and so is the Holy Spirit. God is a spirit, Jesus is a fleshly body controlled by the will of God and having the spirit of God filling the entirety of the form.
Now does that make sense?

The space of our universe has three dimensions. You cannot define a point in space without using three dimensions, and yet that point is one.
Time in past, present and futureTime
Time in our universe has three dimensions that are found in past, present and future, yet it is a single continuum and only exists in the present.
Three primary forces of natureForces
There are three physical forces known to control all interactions in matter: gravitational, electromagnetic and nuclear. The Unified Field Theory seeks to identify one set of laws that describes all these forces as different manifestations of one force.
Atoms
The atom defines the most basic unit of every chemical element in the universe. The word atom comes from the Greek word for "indivisible," yet while it represents the purest essence of one element, the atom has three facets, with the positively charged proton and neutral neutron at its core, and the negatively charged electron outside the core that balances its electric charge and interacts with other elements.
Trisecting a line as the basis for design in creationLife
The physical design of the human body, and that of many other life forms, is based on a relationship known as the Divine Proportion, or Golden Section. This proportion is based on trisecting a line such that the ratio of the small piece to the large piece is the same as the ratio of the large piece to the entire line. It is also found by solving an equation with three terms, x3 - x2 - x1 = 0.
Nature of man
The nature of man is expressed as mind, body and spirit, analogous to, and in the image of, the triune nature of God. It's interesting to note that Genesis relates man being made by "us" in "our" image when referring to God, indicating the plurality in His nature.
Life on Earth
Life on Earth inhabits three domains, the sea, the land and the air.
Holy Trinity
Following the three-in-one nature that is found throughout creation, we find the three-in-one nature of the One God manifested in the Holy Trinity, with each Being revealing a different aspect of our God and Creator to us:
The Father, the part of God that is transcendent, infinite and beyond our understanding,
The Son, Jesus Christ, the part of God that is immanent and appeared to us in the way that we could best know Him, in human form. He was both "Son of God," an expression of God as contained in human form, and at the same time "Son of Man," the ultimate expression of who we can be in our most divine form.
The Holy Spirit, the part of God that lives in the heart and soul of each of us, acting as our Counselor for those who believe and listen to His voice within us.

It doesnt
When christians were small in numbers, and pagans ruled the majority, Constantine decided to add pagan beliefs into Christianity to make the pagans believe Jesus was divine.
Obviously, pagans would follow Jesus only if they said he was God himself. or related to god somehow physically.
it takes more belief to believe in a human sent by God
Jesus never said he was God.
Edit: And to those who think God has 3 capacities: Let me just say that God has endless capacities..but being limited, is something that does not befit the Almighty.

it's saying Father, Son and Holy spirit all have the same meaning in common.
It's like saying beneficial, advantageous, and righteous are different words to be used in different ways, but all basically mean the same thing.
every positive adjective basicaly means good and every negative adjective basically means bad (or taken more emotionally, "evil.")
