No. Global warming will not destroy man. But it will be very bad.

Coastal areas will flood and agriculture will be severely damaged by changing patterns of temperature and rain. Rich countries will be able to cope, although it will be hugely expensive and lower their standard of living. In poor countries a large number of people will die of starvation. But not all of them.

Bad enough, but not the end of man.

When the Universe stretches out its total gravitational force and starts to shrink backwards to the original Big Bang, that will be Armageddon, or the other label we put on this concept, Judgement Day, because time will then be going backwards.

Global Warming will just drive a deeper wedge between the haves and have-nots.

this is the first question that catches my attention.
I'm not sure if it will be Armageddon because the effects of global warming on climate won't be as sudden as a meteorite. in fact I figure that the mechanism has started and that it will take time, a lot of time and suffering, and a lot of "we should have..."
I'm really worried about it. The thing that makes it worse is that no one seems to bother wether car use or mass consumption does affect the situation or not.

Global Warming fears are no different than the Y2K fears. Blown way overboard.

Remember the doom and gloom surrounding Dec 1999? Planes were to fall from the sky, banks would lose all their money, stock market would crash, no food, heat, water, gas, electricity, cars, even toasters were to fail at the stroke of midnight!

And on Jan 1, we found none of this to be true, just as we will discover that "global warming" is just a natural earth cycle and sometime soon, the planet will start to get colder again.

It is just another prediction of the end of the world that will not come true. In the 1968 book "The Population Bomb" it was predicted that there would be world wide famine, including in America, by 1980 due to population growth. Now nobody believes that. Now they say we are doomed by global warming. It will not be any worse than the population bomb. Oh, there will be some problems, but it is NOT the end of the world!

I think global warming will be Earth's Armageddon in about 3 billion years. We will have been long gone by then.

My opinion is humankind, finally, will not allow global warning reach its peak. We probably will move toward that direction until last minute before the no-return-point (as we use to do unfortunately).
I prefer to wait for the IPCC report on friday 2nd of February for predictions, but reading some unveiled briefings and percentage of scientists who believe that we have already reached (or crossed) the no-return-point and how that percentage of scientists evolves, i am afraid that we are as close as very few years. Not to start dealing with it, but to solve it. Unfortunately, as usual, the later we deal with a problem the higher is its price.

Global warming? Nahhh....I hate to disagree but its the war-like nature of humans will ultimately do us in.

If only we used the money we spent on weapons to help people and make the earth a better, cleaner place.....earth would be a paradise.

But leave it to man to screw things up.

It's only a matter of time before we completely ruin this planet and its inhabitants.

It's not bad enough that we have to hate each other, country by country, religion by religion, culture by culture, we also have to destroy the planet we live on.

I have no doubt that if we don't sort ourselves out VERY QUICKLY about how we can heal this planet, the earth will simply sneeze, and that will be the end of this plague called "homo sapien" and earth will simply continue nuturing the next species that will be kinder to her.

Serves us right, if we don't start acting more responsibly.
