I usually eat a banana or 2 before I go to the gym (for an aerobics class lasing 45 mins), however, today I forgot to bring any in and I forgot to buy any at lunch time. I won't have much time to go to the shop before the class, is it ok to go on an empty stomach? I last ate at 1pm. If not, whats the best thing to get from a newsagents selling no fruit?

Does the gym not sell anything, try a breakfast bar or something similar but not too close to your session.

I don't know about others, but I tend to go for a big roast dinner with all the trimmings and a pint of Guiness or Stella followed by a lovely slice of cheesecake for desert. Then I wash that all down with another Guinness. by definition, aerobics involves heavy cardio-respiratory mechanisms at cellular level working away. I fall flat on my back in bed and let all that 'aerobics' in my body do its work, and have a great aerobics sleep.

It's better to have a little something in your stomach so you have energy for the class. For a snack, a handful of peanuts or almonds are good--they have protein and are good sources of energy. If the newsstand doesn't have that, then try something like pretzel thins that don't pack too many calories but still fill you up.

Wont do you any harm but you will get tired quickly. try something with high sugar like a mini roll...the chocolate kind. Good sugar rush will supply most of the Carbs you will need.

Best to make sure you have a good breakfast and nutritious lunch before ANY strenuous exercise. Builds the muscles and...aids the flow!! ;0)

technically you shouldnt eat anything an hour either side of exercising, the best thing i can suggest for a bit of energy before you go if you cant get fruit would be an energy snack bar, or an energy drink, lucozade or something, anything else would really be a bit of a bad idea!

You'll live, bananas give you energy and when you do your aerobics you will use that energy, so because you have not ate anything to give you extra energy your body will burn fat in your body to give you the energy you will need, therefore you will lose weight!

An aero!!
Sorry, i'm having a laugh- wheat crunchies perhaps or a tracker bar or one of those kellogs cereal bars or some of those sports sweets or even dark chocolate- good for cholesterol.

i normally dont eat anything because it makes me feel worse so i usually just stick with a lucazade or ribena. just something to bring the sugar levels up a bit!x
