I just heard about Jesus Camp and watched this clip. What are your opinions on this camp? Do you think it is going too far or is it good?

The camp's being shut down.

I think it's the right and responsibility of parents to teach their values and send their kids to places that will help teach them, but this scares me. It makes Jesus look narrow and the world look like a place that needs to be feared or hated.

Perhaps it's best to break it down:

1. Everything that Rhio said regarding facts.

2. I think it is vile and disturbing. Shocking, no. This is the plight of sheep at a young age- lambs, if you will. This is the reason they blindly and ignorantly follow whatever is told to them when they are older - fear. Current fear activists include George Bush, Rush Limbaugh, Osama bin Laden, Kim Jong Il, Opinionated, and Becky Fischer.

3. I'm glad you are showing this - everyone should see it. The spread of sickness is too often a fatal one, but not for the one with the original strain...

i have seen the movie and truthfully i think it has gone too far. these kids average age of 11 and they are being told about abortion. they are under the assumption that they will die for sinning. there is one scene where all of the kids are crying and praying to be saved and its not just a few tears its bawling. these kids dont really know what the real issues are they are told by "christian adults" what is right and wrong and they have very little room for their own oppinions.

The doctumentary Jesus Camp is increadible, I recommend going out right now and renting it.

It shows how some people in america(namely evangelical christians) indoctrinate there children and force political matters such as abortion and gay marriage on babies. It's quite scary.

Jesus Camp is a rare document. It is one of the few honest portrayals of the right wing evangelist's movement. The documentary follows Pastor Becky Fisher and her congregation, mostly children since she's a children's pastor. In the film both Becky, some of the children and their parents are interviewed. The result is a very disturbing film.

For those of us outside of the movement Fisher's approach to children seems harsh and irresponsible, it has all the markings of brainwashing. One of the most disturbing scenes is where Fisher preaches about double morale, letting the children believe they've let Satan in their heart by prayer in church but acting indifferently to her teachings in school. We see children panicking and bursting out into tears; later when the children start talking in tongues some seem to lose it."

Jesus Camp is a documentary about the "Kids On Fire" summer camp, located just outside Devils Lake, North Dakota and run by Becky Fischer and her ministry, Kids in Ministry International. The film focuses on three children who attended the camp in the summer of 2005--Levi, Rachael, and Victoria (Tory). The film cuts between footage of the camp and a children's prayer conference held just prior to the camp at Christ Triumphant Church, a large charismatic church in Lee's Summit, Missouri; a suburb of Kansas City.

Jesus Camp was screened at Michael Moore's Traverse City Film Festival against the wishes of the distribution company, Magnolia Pictures. Magnolia had pulled Jesus Camp from the festival earlier in the summer after it purchased rights to the film, in a decision apparently inspired by Moore's association with the film festival, with Magnolia president Eamonn Bowles saying "I don't want the perception out in the public that this is an agenda-laden film."

Ted Haggard has disavowed the film and dislikes his depiction in it. Many viewers have come away with the impression that he appears vain and insincere when conversing with Levi. He spent numerous advertising dollars to drive people to his response before a relationship with a gay man caused his ousting. The directors posted a rebuttal in which they state that he was the only one who objected to his portrayal.

In November 2006, Fischer announced that she would be shutting down the camp indefinitely due to negative reaction to the film. According to Fischer's website the owners of the property used for the camp shown in the film were concerned about vandalism to the premises following the film's release and thus will not allow it to be used for any future camps. Fischer has said that the camp will be indefinitely postponed until other suitable premises can be found, but it will be back.

Thanks for the link. I have been wanting to see the movie, but haven't gotten around to it. Ive heard that the kids were worshiping President Bush, I see that is simply untrue. The children were praying over him and speaking blessings over him.Spiritual warfare is real and children can enter into that if they want. I don't think any of the children were being held against their will. I have no problem with the piece I saw. We are told to train up our children in the way they should go, so that when they are old they wont depart from it.

Doesn't it bother you that there has to be a camp at all? Talk about the far right!

Hello Hitler Youth.
Good-bye security in the US.

If you just changed some of the words around a little, this could be mistaken for a future suicide bomber camp.
