Law violations tend to be the biggest problem for people seeking to enlist. The best thing to do is talk to a recruiter in person. If you email me I can answer you questions more specifically without being in this forum.

Yes, contacting a recruiter would be best. The types of infractions they'll tolerate can vary from time to time. So, you may not know for sure unless you pose your question to a recruiter.

Big tip, here: When you fill out forms ESPECIALLY any pertaining to a background investigation for a security clearance, TELL THE TRUTH! If an infraction was recorded at any time in your background or if a personal reference happens to mention something about improper conduct on your part, the investigators WILL find out eventually. If you had failed to mention this information and the authorities believe you withheld this information intentionally, you're doomed. You'll have to repay your enlistment bonus and may find yourself being charged with a crime.

See my link below and pay special attention to the section beginning with "I'm Tempted to Keep Quiet About Something In My Past." But read the whole FAQ page.

It is possible to take the ASVAB, have a physical and ship out in about a month. I am not a recruiter but am enlisted.
Serious charges like domestic violence, major medical conditions such as heart disease or asthma can prevent your brother from joining. You really have to go to a recruiting station to get all your answers.

If you want to get advice on this you need to contact an actual recruiter.Almost every area has one or you can go on the Army website and I'm sure they have something on there.

There are too many to list medical, criminal, etc... whatever your "problem(s)", talk to your local recruiter about it.
