Comparing Jesus & Muhammad

"The Comforter, the Spirit of Truth, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said unto you."
[Bible - John 14:26]

Jesus, the son of Mary, said, "A messenger will come after me, named Ahmad."
[Holy Quran 61:6]

The chief priests and Levites asked John the Baptist, "If you are not the Christ (Messiah), and not Elijah - are you THAT Prophet?"
[Bible - John 1:20]

When the chief priests and Levites asked John the Baptist who he was, they asked him in a very strange way. First they questioned him as to whether or not he was the anticipated "Messiah" [Christ in Koine Greek]. He was not the "Messiah" that had hoped for. Next they asked if he was the prophet Elijah and again he tells them, "No." Now comes the really strange part. Finally, they asked him if he is "That Prophet?"

Are you Christ? - [No]
Are you Elijah? - [No]
Are you THAT Prophet? - [No]

What did they mean by "That Prophet?" We of course, know who the "Christ" is. After all, Christians should know that "Christ" is merely a shortened form of the Koine Greek word "christos," intended to mean the Hebrew word "Messiah."

The Jews of two thousand years ago were definitely looking for the Messiah, who it was foretold in their books, would come and lead them to victory over their oppressors and thus gain for them mastery over this world. They were very oppressed under Roman domination and even their own Jewish kings were seen as nothing more than puppets or agents for the disbelievers. Certainly, they would have been most happy to see someone come on the scene who would defeat their Roman masters and slave drivers.

For centuries Muslims have believed Jesus, peace be upon him, was "THAT Prophet" mentioned in these words of the Gospel of John. The Quran states one of the important features of Jesus' mission was to give the "bashir" or 'glad tidings' of the coming of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. During his short missionary career that lasted not more than three years, and which was overshadowed by the hostile attitude of his own people, Jesus gave them the good news of Ahmad, (one of the forms of "Muhammad") the last messenger of God, who would perfect the divine teaching both in theory and in practice. The Quran mentions that, Jesus says:

"O Children of Israel! I am the messenger of Allah {Almighty God} (sent) to you, confirming the Law (Torah or Old Testament) before me, and giving glad tidings of a messenger to come after me, whose name shall be Ahmad."

[Holy Quran 61:6]

The New Testament Gospel according to John, Jesus, peace be upon him, promises them the Paracletos will come four times (John 14:16; 14:26; 15:26; 16:7). Naturally, Jesus, peace be upon him, did not return in their lifetime nor did any other prophet for that matter, so later thinkers came up with the notion that it was not Jesus "in person" but rather, Jesus coming back in "spirit form." This led some Christians to assert, this was to be the Holy Spirit, who would descend upon the disciples on the Day of the Pentecost (Acts 2), to witness Christ and lead them into the whole truth and to be with the believers forever, and they would not die (John 3:16), but have everlasting life.

Also, some added verses later (see footnotes to Revised Standard Version of the Bible) to the very last chapter of Mark (16), wherein, they have the Spirit coming upon them in such a way they imagined themselves going to be able to speak with new languages; pick up snakes, lay hands on the sick to cure them and even drink poison and nothing would hurt them. [Luke 23:17-18]

Another point is, the Paracletos, comforter or the Spirit of truth, was going to dwell with us from now on. Certainly anyone could see Muhammad's influence and his message of worshipping only One God without any partners has prevailed long after his earthly life.

Wow, that was so much information I cant even figure out if you are trying to say the bible prophecied Mohammed, or if you are debating it from a Christian perspective.

Sorry, maybe make it shorter, and easier to understand your point.

The Comforter, the spirit of truth, whom the Father will send in Jesus' name is only one: The Holy Spirit. Thats what through prayer and study provides wisdom and understanding of the Word of God.

I will not pretend to be studied in the Quran, I am not; My studies are in the manuscripts of the Holy Bible Teachings.

In John 1:21 - It was not strange at all. First they asked if he was the Christ; then if he was Elijah. Then, when they asked "are you THAT prophet, what they were really asking is: "Are you the physical form of Yah himself?" Meaning the Father. They would ask it that way, because they did not mention the Fathers sacred name in public, that was not proper for priests to do.
If you want to know the exact passage those priests were referring to, you can find it at Deut. 18:18.
A further reading of interest would be Acts 3:21 speaking of God the Father sending Jesus Christ to be among us (as a prophet, of course, but also the begotten Son of the Living God).
Now, it is written that the spirit of Elijah will come in the end generation, to turn the hearts of the children back to their fathers. That word "fathers" is plural, and extremely important in prophecy. Its is part of the key of david, which tells us in the manuscripts that God the Father isn't the only "father" at play here - there is another "father"; He was the father of Cain, and the forefather of the Kenites. The Kenites, being satans kinfolk, who survived the flood of Noah, and are found alive and well in 1Chronicles 2:55.
You can look around you today and see that the hearts of the children sure are turning back to their fathers, and not all to the Father, God, either. Spend 10 minutes on this forum, and that will be clearly apparent.

I believe the Bible. I know Christ is risen and will return. He was raised from the dead in physicl form, remember when he had Thomas touch his wounds. Your belief system is not in sync with Christianity expect when you read about the end times. Many of the things decribed about false messiahs coming and the beast etc... fit into your endtime beliefs. Some believe your messiah will be one of the false ones who kill Christians, try to create one world govt in the name of Peace and it's all fake. Your attempts to back up what you believe with the Bible dont' work. You also need to study the King James version more. I am not finished studing about the end times but am assured by the Word that the Holy Spirit will guide me to truth. I will pray that you find Christ and come to accept him as your only hope of true salvation.

(Deuteronomy 18:15) A prophet from your own midst, from your brothers, like me, is what Jehovah your God will raise up for you—to him YOU people should listen—

(John 6:14) Hence when the men saw the signs he performed, they began to say: “This is for a certainty the prophet that was to come into the world.”

(John 7:40) Therefore some of the crowd that heard these words began saying: “This is for a certainty The Prophet.”

(Acts 3:22) In fact, Moses said, ‘Jehovah God will raise up for YOU from among YOUR brothers a prophet like me. YOU must listen to him according to all the things he speaks to YOU.

Quite obviously the Prophet of whom they referred was Jesus Christ.

There is no possible way "The Comforter" spoken of in the Bible could be Muhammad.... all your Islamic buddies have already tried this. There is more than one verse in the Bible describing The Comforter and He is unmistakably the Holy Spirit.

It is an account of John being asked if he is the Christ and him saying no, he isn't. Read the two verses before it.

I'm getting REALLY tired of Muslims and Christians using this site as a venue to preach and paste long, absolutely pointless sermons about their wacky belief system.

Get off your damn soapbox. This is an open forum and a community of people from all faiths. If I wanted a sermon, I'd go to a church.
