How are we supposed to have faith when things like this happen. I'm a good person and I know plenty of good people that work hard to take care of their families and even tithe and give to charities, Yet scum like a registered sex offender wins 14 million dollars in a lottery. Where is the fairness in that? Is God just sitting back and laughing at all of us who are trying to live our lives right yet struggle every day to make ends meet? Its hard to keep the faith when things like this happens.

I am sorry that you are feeling this way about God, most people
look at the world and ask the same questions. I am sorry
that you are struggling financially. One thing that I know for
sure is that God does not cause sex offenders to win lotterys
and make the rest of those that are not wealthy to
struggle. Our God the God that I know, does not cause bad
things to happen to people. 1 Peter 5:6,7/ Philipians 4:6,7
Revelation 21:3,4. There is something that I can send you in
the mail that futher discusses these things, if you like.

Hmmm...I don't in any way condone the activity of criminals or sex offenders. However, this man has been processed through the legal system that has been established by the government and the people. He has been found guilty of said crimes, sentenced, served the prescribed punishment and now released with outlined provisions. The fact still remains he is a human being and should be treated as such. Granted we all make mistakes some easier to forgive than others; however he and his family should be allowed to live in peace and move on with their lives. He bought a lottery ticket and won. He is just as deserving as anyone else. Honestly folks the courts determined that his crime would be satisfied with something more precious than money and something that he could never regain; time out of his life on Earth. He also had to give up freedom and live in prison with other criminals. It may sound like I am painting the set for a pity party, but that is far from the case. What he did was wrong by every standard. However, if the courts had felt a more severe punishment was needed then they would have ordered such. So yes, he should get to keep the money and live his life in peace.

There's so much information that you didn't mention. The fact that he is a sexual offender doesn't tell me much about his individual crime. Was it with a toddler or was he an 18 yr old with a consenting 15 year old girlfriend? Either crime may get a person designated as a sexual offender. Has God forgiven the offender? Has he turned his life over to God? I realize that just because God will forgive him doesn't mean that people will forgive him. Did he serve his sentence? Is the offender now a Christian? Can he use what he's done to make a positive impact on the community? Perhaps he will use the money to teach others not to do what he did. Or perhaps he will teach women how to protect themselves from criminals.

I trust that God knows best and I don't feel that I know better than God what should happen. I try to forgive and see the best in all of Gods children and want the best for them. If that's wrong, well, then I'll just be wrong.

God remains fair and just.
The reward for Christians is in heaven.
Do not fall into the trap of the Health & Wealth Doctrine taught by many preachers.

Godliness with contentment is great gain. Be thankful for what you have right now, and be a good steward with the funds God has supplied to you.

Forgetting to be thankful is the first step in spiraling away from God. (Romans 1:18 to the end of the chapter.)

God is very fair and he does not manipulate the lottery just like he allows free will.Rich doctors and lawyers also win the lottery,it is a chance game so many types of people win, even the deserving poor.He purposely stays out of mans business so we can learn, instead of using us like chess pieces.Besides even those that have done wrong deserve a second chance. No ones perfect and Gods very loving

If he was there in the first place, he will not follow our "Human" logic. Death for us is a tragic incident because we don't know what is beyond. So we ask how can God be just if he lets a 3 year old child in Africa die from hunger. This is an example of human logic, I don't think God is testing us but rather uses different logic one that takes into consideration the bigger picture

Uh, did you buy a ticket?

If you think that's bad, just imagine all those starving children all over the world, including the US, who God apparently has no time for. Or people trapped in cults like Jonestown. Why should people even NEED to contribute to charities if God is so loving and just. There should be no people in need.

Think of how hard it will be for the registered sex offender to find someone worthwhile to share that $14 million with, and how he'll never be free to fully enjoy it.

It is okay to be disapointed AND to question God. All good Christians do; they just don't lose their faith. Lots of things are not fair, and we do not understand a lot of things happening in our lives or in the world.

No, my faith is strong. I can't explain why this happened, but your question is coming from a mad and even jealous place. Ask God to show you why this person won the lottery.
