Sounds like you had an anaphylactic reaction which can be life-threatening. It has nothing to do with how the food was cooked. While you are probably only allergic to shellfish, I would stay away from ALL seafood. When you go out to eat, make sure to inform them of your seafood (specifically shellfish) allergy. Also, something incredibly important is that you go see an allergist for allergy testing. Also, when you go, be sure to request a prescription for an Epi-Pen. This can be used if you accidentally ingest something again that causes you to swell up. Of course, you'd still want to follow up with a trip to the ER. Best of luck to you!

You are allergic to shellfish, as am I. You should be fine eating non-shellfish seafood. Just stay away from the shrimp, crab, lobster, and the like. If I ate a couple of shrimp I would probably die without treatment, but I eat fish frequently with absolutely no problems.

NO you cannot have shrimp somewhere else. Stay away from crabs, shrimp, and lobster. You have an allergy to "shellfish"- which is seafood with a shell on it. Maybe you should go to an allergy doctor for advice about what to avoid because this sounds serious!

You might be allergic to shell-fish, which I believe shrimp falls under. Either that or MSG, but stay the hell away from seafood/shellfish and chinese restaraunts.
