Sonographer told me 95% chance she's a girl but not to be 100%. I really want to buy some girls clothes. What are the chances of her getting it wrong?

I think she has to say that so she cant be liable.......its just precautionary im sure. I was told when I was expecting my daugther that it was 95% chance of her being a girl so I just went with it. I dont think they get it wrong too often but I guess its happened. Goodluck x

I am an OB nurse and usually if the sonographer says they are pretty sure of the sex of the baby, they are right. However, they are usually right if they say it is a boy, but there is a bigger chance that there could be something they are not seeing if they think it is a girl. In my experience as a nurse, there have only been maybe 2 times in 5 years that they have been wrong.

She probably said she wasn't 100% sure because she might not have gotten the best look. With my niece, they did about 3 ultrasounds and they kept saying they were about 85% sure it was a girl, but on the last one, they finally got a good look and said girl for sure. With my son, it took about 15 seconds into the 20 week ultrasound, and she said boy for sure.

I don't know the odds, but I've heard that it's more likely to be wrong if they say girl and it's really a boy, than they are if they say boy and it's a girl. The only two people I know who it happened to, though, the tech said boy and they had girls. One actually had twin girls! But I think she may have skipped her second ultrasound, and lied to us about it... A second baby is kind of a big thing to miss.

Go ahead and buy a few pretty things, but don't cut the tags off yet. Just in case.

I was told the same thing and though I am very excited I know these tests may sometimes be wrong, therefore I prefer to hold out and wait until the baby is born. At present i told everyone not to buy anything in pink as soon as she is born however I will want everything pink. The thought is enough for now I know you are seeing alot of pretty girl stuff to buy but hold out, you'll see just as much after she is born. Congrats!

Not very likey sweetie! If it said 95% girl. Then it is a girl. My daughter was 88% girl and she wouldnt even show her parts to him so i was more nervous it would end up a boy. The main reason they say that they arent positive is because if they are wrong you can sue them. But if he said 95% get your butt out and buy them pink outfits! Congrats and good luck!
