When my boyfriend gave me a promise ring, it was to symbolize that we knew we were going to get married someday. At the time we weren't ready to get engaged (both too young and still in school). We are now engaged and getting married in a year.

Hope this helps :)

I thought it was the most wonderful thing in the world.. it meant more to me than my wedding ring did from my first marriage because it was given to me out of love not because he had to.. we made the agreement that we would never get married again because both of us have been in bad marriages and this way we know we're together because we want to be not out of obligation to stay together.. not afraid of committment at all just a great gift.. and he gave it to me the first christmas we were together which was only after 3 mths of being together along with my mothers ring which my ex-husband and father of my children would never get me.. so realy great gift.. :)

you grants a guy something you like. there's no longer something written that asserts the ring, promise, or engagement ought to be on the direction of a guy. in case you experience for a guy in a undeniable way, decide for IT!

depends on what the "promise" or intent is..
when my now husband gave me one, it was for engagement...
just depends on what message is conveyed when the gift is given.

BOTH PROBABLY RUNS THROUGH HER HEAD. SHE'S THRILLED, BUT AT THE SAME TIME JUSTIFIES IT BY THINKING IT'S NOT THE SAME AS AN ENGAGEMENT RING.
