After showering. Do not put it on before you go in the steam room. Steam does not penetrate most lotions.

The best time to put skin softener on is when the pores are open. After showering, when your pores are open from the warm water is the best time to put on skin softener. This will give you the full effects of the skin softener and make your skin luxurious and soft all day long.

After washing--our pediatrician recommended for our kids (who have eczema) to apply moisturizer within 2 minutes of bath/shower time--basically, apply it before the moisture on your skin evaporates. Additionally, check whether your moisturizer contains mineral oil or petrolatum--both are petroleum products and while are economical, do little to help your skin in the long term (kinda like applying plastic wrap on your skin). Stick with water-based products and be sure that any oils are botanically based--these get absorbed along with the water on your skin and are more beneficial than petroleum/animal oils.

After showering. Think about it.....if you apply it before, the sweat will wash it away.
