Why in the HECK is your three year old on Risperdal? This is appalling! You SERIOUSLY need to find a new doctor.

I'm having a real hard time coming up with a valid reason someone so young was on risperdal. Ask a doctor about the side effects in that population.

My son was on risperdal. He was 5 yrs old. He had no side effects. We weened him off slowly with the doctor advice. I was really scared at the time of the side effects. If this was the right thing to do? Now my son is 10yrs old and doesn't need it anymore.

i work at an assisted living for people who are mentally retarded and one of my guys is being taken off risperdal at the moment. this has caused him to be violent, have serious mood swings and drool almost all the time. however, this gentleman is in his 20's, and is being taken off of it bc of his upped dosage on another medication. Hope everything works out okay for you and your child!

My son wasn't 3, however he was 9 yrs old and was on it for 6 months for Bipolar. We took him off because it didn't work and he gained a lot of weight. The only side effect we saw when we took him off was weight loss. He lost all the weight he has gained while on the medicine.
